Being a police officer myself I have already started using this software out in the field and I must say so far it is working great. I have been in touch with the developer and he is excellent to work with and they have plans to add more facial features to the existing database. This is excellent. There are really some incredible things finally being offered for us PDA (geeks) officers to use our devices out in the field.

I would imagine that the quicker you can get a victim to give you a description and you can do an instant sketch, the more accurate it will be. Might be time to outfit all officers with this? (One more thing hanging off their belts won't matter right? )

It just doesn't stop! New PPC software that I want. Am I going to have to go buy an Axim, just to run this and Pocket Artist! ARRGGGG!!!

I had a desktop program just like this for my Atari ST called MugShot. The Mac version was used by real crime fighters and was called "Mac-a-mug.

I loved it. You could get a very nice picture for printing on an old dot matrix printer that you could actually make look like someone.

Plus it was fun for the kids to play with.

Cool program and swell for PPC use.

But can anybody find a way to add facial hair? I tried to make a picture of myself and stopped short when I realized I couldn't add my macho goatee.

Think you might have to wait for some more addons for that. They promise more in the future.

Did you try the slide rule? It can help out in some instances.

You might want to take a look at this. I found this at Mobigeeks site.

Announcement byFrank Yacano (Director of Business Development, Syware): "Law enforcement officials can now write traffic citations more efficiently - and safely - using a new handheld application that replaces the traditional pad of tickets. Called Crossroads Handheld Citation, the application was created by Crossroads Software using SYWARE's Visual CE forms and database development software. The solution minimizes manual data entry by reading bar code or magnetic stripe data on drivers' licenses, as well as through extensive use of drop-down lists on handheld forms. The handheld units help protect the officer during a traffic stop by eliminating the risk of being pinned in the cruiser."

More Details on the Syware site

I was thinking of making that suggestion, but on the other hand, I have a mustache. I'd suggest just Photoshopping it on afterwards.

Do you remember the name of the program you had on a Clie that did this? I would sure like to have it.
