Hi there
I am a little curious. I just had to reinstall Win 2000 on my PC. Once the installer had finished I went to Windows Update to install all the appropriate patches. When I started it told me that there were about 6 Critical updates i needed. So I started with IE6 SP1. I rebooted and then did Win2K SP3. Once that went on and I rebooted I returned to Windows Update and there were 11 critical updates. Is it just me or is it strange that the installation of a service pack added a lot of new vulnerabilities?

Hmm, sounds to me like MS is not supporting patches on pre-W2KSP2/3 anymore.

Probably the fact that with your W2K disk, it already had a bunch of hte IE5 fixes installed. Then, Windows Updated updated to IE6 and that required a whole set of new patches.
