Hey gang,

I'm awaiting the arrival of my Ipaq 5450 (hopefully tuesday or Wednesday). I have an old Palm Pilot Professional (yes, It's VERY old) that I haven't really used in years, but have keep the batteries working in over the ages. I have a lot of contact info in that palm, and then a lot more in Yahoo on the Yahoo calendar, Yahoo contacts, etc.

What will be the easiest way for me to get all of my information out of the Palm and Yahoo and over to the IPaq?

Also, is there a good way to sync between the IPAQ and Yahoo?

Just beam the info to the iPAQ. Does that Palm even have an IR port? If not, you'll need to either export the contacts to a CSV file on the desktop then import into outlook or buy Pocket Mirror. It is a piece of software that allows Palms to sync with Outlook, but I know that didn't come with the original Palms since Outlook wasn't even out yet.

I think there is an app called Intellisync for Yahoo that will sync Outlook with Yahoo. You can in turn sync that with your new iPAQ. Poke around your yahoo account looking for sync settings. It may be near the bottom of the pages.

BTW, the PalmPro doesn't have IR. The Palm III was the first. :(

There may be two cheaper ways to get PocketMirror: try downloading the latest version of Palm Desktop from www.palm.com; I think PocketMirror is bundled. If not, find a friend with a more recent Palm. That is, by far, the best way to move your data over to Outlook, and from there to the PPC.

You could purchase an upgrade that added IR functionality to the Pro (if memory serves)...

That's correct. I think it also upgraded the memory from a whopping 1MB to 2MB. 8O

Scary thing is that at that time, it was a WHOPPING upgrade...

...how times change...
