I just saw this device on the front page of NewsWeek (or fortune, or one of those mags), so I looked them up.

http://www.tiqit.com/eightythree.html

Pretty neat device. It weights in at a little more than double the h5450 at 20oz. But look at all the stuff it's got: 5, 10 or 20 GB hard disk drive, 4.0" 640 x 480 TFT (18-bit color) VGA LCD with touch screen and backlight, 256 MB of SDRAM, USB port, PCMCIA / PC Card Type II slot, Secure Digital / MMC slot, Infrared Port, .... The FAQ also indicates that it supports 802.11a/b 8O

All that for $1,000 - $1,500 (hopefully).

Here's what's got me. Ya, it's a little heavier, and a little larger, BUT it's got way more than any PDA on the market. Seems like the perfect mix between a laptop and a PDA. If they're ready to produce this now, imagine what they can offer in a couple years!! :D

.......it was in a clamshell formfactor, like the new Samsung or the new Linux PDA from Sharp. For me, it's a bit too big to want to lug around.
Great spec though.
Is that a 337 by the way?

Is that a 337 by the way? Yup! Great car, someday my GTI VR6 will be replaced by a 337, or... a R32! :D :D

The form factor is a little large, but not much over the iPaq with PCMCIA sleeve, plus you get way more in features.

I was thinking, as an executive at a fortune 500 company (which I am not) would you rather have a ANY PDA or this? This 83 device offers full USB support, so when you take it home, just plug in any USB keyboard/mouse and away you go. You have ALL your files with you all the time. There's no sync'ing. It's a full version of XP so all your office apps are still full featured.

A friend of mine replaced his 2001 VR6 with the 337 and loves it.
I have the new 24V VR6 in a Jetta.
