I'm a "life moments packrat" now though, so future generations will have no shortage of information about ol' Grandpa Jason and his family. For the rest of you, this Pocket PC application might just do the trick.<br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/cemyfamily.gif" /> <br /><br />"CE My Family consists of both a Desktop and a Pocket PC component, which allows you to make a significant part of your current genealogy work available for referencing and editing - with the portability of the Pocket PC! This is a new entry to the market. I've previously tried Pocket Genealogist (http://www.northernhillssoftware.com/pgenie.htm) which works quite well but doesn't yet fully support true two-way synchronisation.

A problem with genealogy is fitting all the information on the screen with logical layout and navigation. If you do research in libraries and record offices its very handy to be able to take your tree around with you in your pocket and quickly look up names, places and dates. Of course the internet is becoming a lot more useful for research as indexes and records are ade available online. Perhaps we need to get these sites to get a pda friendly version of sites such as www.familysearch.org so you can search from your pocket pc

We are pleased to announce an update to CE My Family for both the Desktop and the Pocket PC. The current version for the desktop is now 1.1.3 while the Pocket PC is now at 1.1 Rev 2.

To obtain these updates follow the "Downloads" link from http://www.cemyfamily.com, at the bottom of the page there are two files you will need to download, one each for the Desktop and the Pocket PC. Both downloads combined will be approximately 214 KB. **Note: You Should NOT download the complete Installer!**

Each of these downloads are self-expanding Zip files that will place the updates at the correct location on you desktop. Close CE My Family on both the Desktop and Pocket PC before expanding and DO NOT change the default "C:\" 'Unzip to Folder' name. Follow the prompts when you next launch CE My Family on the Desktop with the Pocket PC connected.

Changes Include:

Overall
- Increase of the Trial Period to 20 Uses

On The Desktop:
Improvements to the GEDCOM Import Process include:

- Addition of a significant amount of data to the "Notes" text area, including information associated with Address, Adoption, Age, Ancestral File #, Author, Cause, Census, Data, Education, Emigration, Endowment, Event, Immigration, LDA Baptism, Naturalization, Nickname, Occupation, Probate, Reference #, Religion, Repository, Residence, Retirement, Social Security #, Text and Will.

- Improved import process provides the user with much more progress feedback, insuring you the program is still functioning.

- Resolution to many Import errors, and better error management if one should occur.

- Insured all dates used on the 'Individual' and the 'Family' Tabs are read
as upper case when Importing.

On the Pocket PC:
- Allowed the input of "U" for unknown Sex.

- Resolved a possible error or data truncation in the event of long dates on the 'Individual' or 'Family' Tabs.

- Added a 'Find Individual' function. This will allow you to locate a
specific person in the list of individuals.
- Improved and standardized the Menus and toolbars across all three main tabs.

For details on the above two changes, see http:\\www.cemyfamily.com\findindi.htm.
- Improved the responsiveness of moving to the 'Family' Tab when the
desired family is already loaded.
- Improved handling dates with mixed case and resolved a "Not a Collection" error message when using the date picker.

The above is a summary of all changes from the initial release.
