I have upgraded the ROM of my XDA a few days ago. Since then I have a funny problem.

When the battery level drops below approx. 50% I cannot switch on the phone anymore. When I try the backlight is turned on -while it is always off- and the XDA slows down to a crawl. A soft reset does not fix it, no matter how often I softreset it.

As soon as I hook the XDA up to a charger everything goes back to normal again, phone can be switched on without any problem.

I have this problem with a 'bare' XDA, so no additional software installed.

Anyone else with this problem?

I tested this out today (not purposefully mind you) and it worked fine even at 45% (or so the meter read). So, I don't know if it's me or if it is a true problem. I would contact the Data Wireless Group to find out if this too is an issue.

Thanks Monty. I have also posted in Pocket PC Passion, so now I know I'm not the only one with this problem. Little comfort however.

Well good and bad I suppose. Good that you received a similar complaint. Bad... well bad for the rest of us I think. We'll all have to be on the "lookout" for this situation. Thank you for the "heads-up."

Any chance someone can tell me where I can get the ROM upgrade that everyone's talking about? I saw the Internet Manager download on t-mobile's site, and installed it. Is that what you guys are referring too?

Thanks in advance,

james

James,

Click here:http://www.t-mobile.com/products/handhelds/pocketpc/downloads.asp to download it. The other program you're referring to was put on the site by mistake.

The first message in this Forum referred to an XDA Upgrade - I assume that this is the O2 XDA - it seems dangerous to install the T Mobile ROM upgrade onto the XDA - or have I mis-interpreted something here - is there an official XDA ROM Upgrade?

Well, here in the U.S. we have several names for this device: The XDA, the MDA, the T-Mobile Pocket PC Phone, the Siemens AT&T Pocket PC Phone. It's also known as the Wallaby in other parts of the world as well. It's the same device, different name as far as I know. It's made by HTC in Tiawan. Will it work for your device? Probably. Would I install it. Probably not. I'd wait for O2 to release their own update. Sorry for the confusion.

Ah Hah! Thanks for the explanation - I didn't realise that the XDA was avilaible badged that way elsewhere! Doh! No need for an apology - just grateful for the clarification - I am looking forward to a ROM upgrade and just the mention gets the old salivary glands going! Sad? Probably!! :-)

Anyone have the T-Mobile ROM download page that links directly to their downloads? The above link takes you to where you need to fill in a T-Mobile #..... but for those of us that buy the PPCPE unlocked and use it in Canada, we don't have a phone # to get to the next page.

Thanks,
Brian

Oh, one more thing.

Can anyone confirm that a PPCPE with ROM 3.01.12 would work fine to flash to the newer ROM update?

I've seen a quote from T-Mobile that says if upgrading from software ROM version 3.08.10 you will benefit from this upgrade. Can I assume that they mean this version AND EARLIER?

Thanks again for any input!

Brian,

You must enter a valid T-Mobile telephone number . I tried your suggestion already and when you link to the page it states, " You MUST enter a valid MSIDN Number."

Sorry about that.

Hmm! I had a look at the link - O2 Asia ROM Upgrade listed, O2 Eire ROM upgrade listed - still no info on when us poor UK users can expect to have a ROM upgrade - I mean those are serious improvements to the funtionality! How it should perform! (Well according to the improvements listed for the Eire upgrade). Why does it take O2 UK sooo long?

I just found a germin site who provide an upgrade for Qtek 1010 which is the same finally of xda and t-mobile. You need to send them an email to get the two files, the CE and the radio.
