First time PDA/PPC owner - Dell Axim X5 :D . Awesome unit. But, something I noticed - when you open an app from the start menu or from programs folder, and then close it via the 'x' on the top right, the program dissapears, but is still running. I see it in the Switcher Bar. Whats up with that? I'm having to use the Switcher Bar to close my programs. There has to be a better way. Why won't it close when I hit 'x'?

As far as I'm aware, there isn't a better way than by using the switcher program or another task-manager type program.

Correct. "X" is not the standard Windows "X". It's "Smart" Minimize.

vBar (http://www.vieka.com/vbar.htm) and PocketNav (http://www.scottandmichelle.net/scott/cestuff.html) are two free tools that will change that X to a real closer.

check out GigaBar also, which I use. it replaces your top start bar, and it's incredibly powerful.

When you go Start>Settings and hit the second tab on the bottom (currently, I'm not sure what it's called) you can hit "Memory". Then, tap on the third tab on the bottom (I think it's called "Running Programs") you can stop one or all your programs here - this functionality is built into every Pocket PC 2002. I can ony speak for Toshiba models, but there is an easier way to do this. There is a program called "Home" that is activated by pushing the button to the right of the 4-way pad. The lefternmost tab on the bottom allows you to switch between running programs and if you tap-n-hold on an entry, you are given the option of stopping just that program or all of them. Again, this may work only on Toshiba models.

All models have some kind of special "menu" that enables the user to manage his programs.

I use http://www.pelmarinc.com/. It's neat since it keeps the little X at the top. Difference: Hold the X= Close program; Tap the X= Minimize the program

Not all models come with a program/process manager. My old Casio E-125. I don't know if you meant 2K2 only, but those programs are usually vendor specific. Anyway, all programs are supposed to still support CTRL+Q, so you really shouldn't need any 3rd party program. Any all Pocket PCs have the "Running Programs" tab too, to use as a last resort.
