I would like to know if anyone has purchased the Belkin foldable Keyboard made especially for the Toshiba series? Is it worth the expense and is it available anywhere else for less than $79? :?:

I just went on to the Belkin web site, and I couldn't find one for the Toshiba Pocket PCs. If you do find one please let me know! I am very interested in a keyboard for my e310! I'll be watching this topic

The Belkin keyboard specific to all the PPC in the Toshiba line is available only (it seems) from the Toshiba ppc accessories page for $79. It is also shown in their ad magazine sent to those who registered their device.

I went to the Toshiba web site, and they do indeed have a Belkin keyboard. Unfortunately, it is NOT compatable with the Toshiba e310.

AND I HAVE WANTED A KEYBOARD FOR MY E310 FOR SO LONG!!! WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY????????

I appoligise already for what is above, but I feel that my frustration could not be contained anymore.

Chill out. If the keyboard fits the 330 and 335 it must still fit the E310 because they are all virtually identical in connections ... but why not call Toshiba on that if you are not convinced.

I think the real issue is not the connection port, but the way the machine handles what it's attached to. I heard that the e310 is a USB client-only handheld, whereas the e740, e330, and e335 are USE host/client handhelds. I take this to mean that the e310 cannot connect to perephrials, only to computers. And I have wanted a keyboard for my e310 for so long!

I called Toshiba and talked to a sales agent (of course they know everything about their products) According to the Toshiba rep the Belkin keyboard was designed specifically for the 330, 335 and 740 will NOT work with the e-310.

How about that, their first real winner of a PDA and now it is orphaned and unable to stay with the rest of the family in terms of continuing growth!

I guess I will now consider the wireless keyboard others have tried with the 310. If that is not good, then the E-310 becomes a lot less desireable! After seeing the HP 1910 screen I began to think of selling what I have, but then that is not able to take a keyboard as of yet either.

When will there be an industry standard for connectors??? :x

Thats my understanding, but I also thought the e740 was plagued by the USB only client.

It's clear that the e740 isn't because it has the expansion thing on the botton to which you can directly connect USB devices!

Being one, I have to say that all of us who bought our e-310's back in the day before press releases of e330, e335, and dells axim shtuff, got screwed. Half the memory, half the processor, no usb host functionality, NO KEYBOARD!!!!, no cf ever, for a price which is now considered expensive. This sucks SOOO MUCHHH!! If you agree with me, please reply.

I agree with you for the most part. That these things get cheaper with more features is only logical, nothing special. But I agree with you on the other point. NO Add-ons or accesoires (no CF, no Keyboard etc.). But the worst I think is that Toshiba stopped providing service for the e310 (within 6 months!!!, check http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6054). I'm that Herbert Dijkman who posted this mail to Jason, and I'm REALLY pissed about all this!!!! No EUU3, no further service, no add-ons. Totally screwed by Toshiba indeed!

BTW I heard that if a e310 is broken they just replace it with an e330 (although that is actually pretty nice by toshiba, but it does show that they won't provide any service).

I just had my e310 replaced with an e330 by Toshiba as they had been unable to fix a 'white screen' problem. Obviously I'm not complaining, but it does seem that the product life (in terms of support) for the e310 was way too short.

I have been using a wireless keyboard from micro innovations for months now with my toshiba e310. I bought it at radio shack. Its not the most comfortable keyboard in the world, but it certainly gets the job done. micro innovations has a driver for the e310 which you can download from the internet (the driver doesn't come on the accompanying CD rom). It works wonderfully for me and I would highly recommend it!

Sorry, guys!

It seems I just gave you the belkin (G700) for toshiba keyboard that does NOT work with e310. So sorry. I thought it was different than what you'd been talking about.

Should have stuck with what I know. I have an e335.

I promise to be more helpful in the future!

I spoke with a Belkin representative today and he said Belkin will be releasing a "generic" wireless keyboard that's compatible with the e310. The release date is tentatively mid-march. Besides the micro keyboard mentioned earlier, has anyone had any luck finding a keyboard (wireless or otherwise) or the e310? Any recommendations?
