Does anyone know of a search engine or good reference for finding web sites that are formatted for PPC? If nobody knows of one, can anyone give me a short list of sites that carry dymanic content? I'm mainly looking for news and sports that might be similar to what's offered at mobile.msn.com. Thanks in advance.

Well, you can use a "PPC" formatted search engine (google) at: http://www.google.com/palm (yes, palm, i know.... but it's still same format), or http://www.google.com/imode (has color google logo).

Thanks for the info, I'll be sure to give them a try. I also found the mobile.yahoo.com site, which has just about everything I'm looking for.

I've used the mobile MSN sites and Yahoo sites, and my biggest frustration with them is that the sports scores are spartan and not up-to-date. This, for me, was killer. I've resorted to using the full sports.yahoo.com pages, sometimes with Thunderhawk as appropriate, as it gives you a nice full view of the page (although it's very slow over GPRS).

Besides the ones discussed, here are a couple more:

* Evolution Mobile (eVmO) Portal (http://www.evmo.com/mobile)
* Mazingo Mobile Portal (http://www.mazingo.net/mobile)

Also, if you haven't found it yet, AvantGo (https://my.avantgo.com/home/index.html) will allow you to view many Web sites that are specially formatted for your Pocket PC. There's an AvantGo client on the Pocket PC.

I personally like MyMobileStuff.com (now Evolution Mobile) http://www.evmo.com/mobile/default.asp?wwuid=4890406&zip=98052 and PlinkIt! http://members.bellatlantic.net/~blumax/plinkit/. You should find everything you are looking for at these two sites.

I've used Mazingo, AvantGo, and Sunnysoft World Off-Line. Don't bother with Sunnysoft... it's way too buggy. Mazingo is okay if you use the free service. The Digital Video Package takes forever to download stuff and is buggy. AvantGo limits you to 2 megs for free. If you can go wireless, give the two above a try.

Alan's Pocket Portal (http://home.earthlink.net/~ag3/pocketpc/)
Pocket PC Magazine Links (http://www.pocketpcmag.com/mobile.htm)
Pocket Portal (http://www.sfone.net/w/)
PliNkIt (http://members.bellatlantic.net/~blumax/plinkit/)
SqueezeNet Pocket PC Tap (http://www.squeezenet.com/PDAntab/default.htm)

It sure would be handy and nice if this site (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com) had a links page... for PPC Formatted sites... that was formatted for PPCs.

Excellent idea... I second the recommendation! Especially useful if viewed when in mobile mode.

i tried to use evmo but encountered a problem.

im not sure if i did this correctly but i copied the url of my evmo-home address(the one where your zipcode is in the addr) and pasted it on avantgo site as a custom. i set the 'follow link' option.

but after i synced, i tried to visit a link from the evmo site on my pda, but got no page available. where did i 'mess' things up?

thx for the help.

It would be especially useful if popular sites could re-direct you to its mobile site when you're on your PPC.

I went to CNN.com the other day, and I found a huge site that wasnt formatted for my PPC. Later I found the CNN Mobile, after digging it up.

PS. I kinda hate to ressurect posts, but I thought this might be important for some, as it was for me today.

Greetings~!
WE were having the same problem...finding sites that are formatted for the PPC isn't easy so we put together a pocket portal for our own use that I'd like to share. The URL is http://www.ppcportal.us.
Let me know what you think...it's still a work in progress and we plan on adding more to it in the days to come.
I'd appreciate any comments or criticism...thanks
