First of all, he has started a new technology site with the name Megabytemike. Next, he has written a detailed review with tons of pictures on the new hp iPAQ 1910. He covers box contents, installation and the use of this tiny Pocket PC, so go check it out!

I don't remember seeing this info posted anywhere, and I didn't see it in Megabytemike's (otherwise excellent) review:

Does the hp 1910 have a 3.5", or 3.8" screen? (I keep wondering why it *looks* smaller than the Viewsonic in pictures, when they have nearly the same width...). If it has the 3.8" screen, like the other iPaqs, that's just great... hmmm

Anybody know? Thanks in advance, and thanks for the great review, Mike.

Have a look at the earlier topic on this site "Great iPAQ 1910 Photos
Posted by Jason Dunn @ 05:13 PM " with the link to http://discussion.brighthand.com/showthread.php?s=b7de3ef368122a9ac787ce51fdf8719c&threadid=66171 and then scroll aaaaaaall the way down (second to last post). athlonman has taken a photo of the hp1910 next to a iPaq. The screen looks slightly smaller.

The only thing I would have added to the negatives is the lack of a bundled case. Other than that, really nice job.

another negative to add to the list: the headphone jack is a 2.5mm jack, rather than the standard 3.5mm. so if you want to use the included phones, you're all good, but if they break you you find them crappy for some reason, you'll have to search out an adaptor. i love the device, but this seems just goofy, IMO.

...is showing the left side of the iPAQ 1910 as you hold it in your hand. Mike IDs the area above the IrDA port as a vent, but it is a for a wrist strap. Anyone who has either an Audiovox or Samsung mobile phone should have one of these as well. Many of the Japanese PHS mobiles have them as well.

Maybe the guy from iPocket Bungee will design something for it. :D

What about volume control? I have often found that I need to use headphones that have a built in volume control because when listening to MP3s, the volume is sometimes too loud, even on the lowest volume setting on the PPC or I need to change it because some are louder than others and it is a pain to have to remove the PPC from my pocket to change the volume.
If the included headphones do not have a volume control (and they don't look like they do), then it may be another reason to want to use aftermarket headphones which will not fit without an adapter. Of all the decisions (read compromises) Compaq made on this model, this is one I really don't understand.

Do you have a 3600 or a 3700-series iPaq? Those were notoriously loud. My 3800-series is much better volume control-wise, and I'd suspect any of these units have sufficient range too.

In fact, Compaq came out with a volume patch for the 3600's, but I never tried it (had already switched to my new unit).

This thing is just beautiful, and that's something you can't say about handhelds very easily. Hopefully this is the shape of things to come for the future

3600.
Even with the patch, the thing is sometimes so damn loud through the headphones without an aftermarket volume control switch on the headphones, I can't use it.

With there being shared RAM (Its shared right?) with the OS is it going to be possible for the guys at pocketpctech.com to upgrade the RAM and possibly give us more storage space? Hmm
