Improving the Data Connection and MSN Messenger wont connect...

2 issues:

the internet settings allow header & software compression for both VPN and Internet connections -- has anyone had any problems setting these? does it improve the connection/dowload speed?

also i cant get msn messenger to connect??? it activates the GPRS mode which does connect but the beachball counter stays up and i cant connect?

any ideas???

this is odd

if i set any of the compression options (boxes checked) msn messenger wont connect...

but if i leave them turned off, it connect and works fine

why is that?

also the connection speed for either gprs or vpn seems to revert to 19kb no matter what i set it to?

is that the maximum speed for gprs??? i had seen 56k or something listed on some sites???
