Since I'm moving from an iPaq 3650, and have a couple of Lexar Media CF ram cards (which never gave me a problem), I have a question for those of you with SD-slot machines:

Are there brands of SD Ram to avoid? I've heard reports that some brands are slow, or poor quality (sudden-memory-death syndrome), etc. From experience with other media formats, I'm leaning towards Kingston, or Lexar again.

How are these other cheap brands? (Simple Tech, Viking, SanDisk, etc)?? Anybody have any problems, or suggestions?

Thanx!!!!!!

I purchased a SanDisk 128mb card for my iPAQ 3970 and have not had 1 problem.

I have a Sandisk 128 MB. I returned the first one I got due to regularly losing all data. The replacement has worked flawlessly.

I have a 32MB Memorex card in whichI use about 10mb for my Palm m505 and the rest for my Toshiba e335, and have never had a problem. I've only used it though with the Toshiba for a little over 2 weeks, but I have used it with the Palm m505 for almost a year now.

While SanDisk is most readily available, I make it a policy to avoid them. From a performance point of view, they lag behind almost all other brands (even their touted Ultra line of CF cards are actually pretty slow). Granted, while the majority of folks out there have no issues with the media they buy, when I do read about issues, it's almost always SanDisk. I consider them to be like the Packard Bell (if you happen to remember that old PC manufacterer) of removable media....
