Hi, I have a Windows XP Simulation to shutdown or restart your Pocket PC via software.

http://mobigoo.de/shutdown.gif

You can download a already stable version here: http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=6666

The software is tested on iPAQ and Loox already (Pocket PC 2000 and 2002). The final release will be free of charge...!

Installation: You have to unzip the file and copy the two files (.dll and .exe) in one folder, f.e. the "\windows\start menu" folder.

I have loaded this up and used it a few times. The demo puts a screen shot in your root directory called xxx every time you use it. This is not too bad, since it over writes the last one it created. My other complaint, is that the text shown is in German, and although I studied the language in high school, I really don't remember it (this is a minor complaint as there are only 3 choices reset, shut down, cancel).

Overall this app does an excellent job of simulating the "fade to gray" of a windows XP shutdown. I think I will keep it (and use it).

@LedPocket: Yes, the first version did save an xxx.bmp in the root folder. Please download the newest version from http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=6666

At this moment I do the translation to english and french. I hope to release this version this week!

Interactive,

Thanks. And so far, there are no issues using it with the Toshiba e740.

Hey, that is really neat. I have the English version on my Jornada 568 and it works just fine.

I used to have a little softreset app on it in the start menu that I had renamed CtrlAltDel but hadn't put it back since rebuilding.

This fits so well with the Bliss Theme :). I also like the option to cancel which my previous program didn't have. Not often, but once in a while I hit CtrlAltDel by mistake.

Thanks

@Sven: Thank you! Nice to hear that this free software is nice to someone!!! There are a lot of users already, they all love this new software!

The best thing: IT IS FREE!

There are a lot of software tools like my, but they want to have 1.50$-3.00$ for their version.
