So after much hand ringing (or desire thereof), I broke down and purchased a T-mobile PPCP. While I'm waiting for it to arrive I wanted some recommendations for cool programs...

What are the essential / best software apps to get for this device?

Any programs people are finding especially useful?

I use Yahoo Messenger a great deal and hear they no longer support PPC. Has anyone tried Jabber or is there something better?

Should I disable the built in T-mobile apps -- have crashes/lockups been that big of a deal for people?

One of the prior posts mentions this program:

Keep Alive

which appearently can keep your PPCP connected for chat programs.

They also have some pretty cool programs including a task switcher that looks remarkably like the one DELL is using....

Has anyone tried these -- any good???

which program are you referring too? I see pocketNav but that in no way resembles the Dell switcher. I wish I could try the dell switcher just to see how well it works...

PocketNav is an excellent task switcher for the Phone Edition. Tried a few others, but they always hid the other "phone status" icons on the Bar. PocketNav is small and good at what it does.

I think the most useful app is Spb GPRS monitor - keeps track of your data usage, awesome UI

well ive tried a few apps and so far feel that only 2 are essential:

1. Gigabar -- amazing how powerful this thing is. people have commented that it obscures the phone icon, which it does, but you can easily assign CLOSE GIGABAR to an icon and shut it off before using the phone.

2. spb GSM monitor -- very nice. im suprised at how little data im actually consuming. i will probably switch to the 10 mb plan.

any other ESSENTIAL PROGRAMS?
