http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board?board.id=dellpda

Dell has always had pretty decent community support in their Dell Talk forums. I have used it a number of times with my Latitudes over the years. They now have the Axim board up and running. Though I don't have an Axim or plan on getting one right now since I am more than happy with my 3970 but I will keep an eye out for issues I can help with. Their forum moderators also do a pretty good job most of the time.

This is just another reason I am so jazzed about Dell entering the Pocket PC space. How many other handheld vendors have a forum like this? Compaq, Toshiba, Palm, Sony, Nokia? I think not. Dell has been doing this for years and they keep making improvements and looking for ways to stay in touch with their customers, not looking for ways to bury the 1-800 number and contact emails deeper and deeper in a maze of links. My handle is "silvernino." See you there!

Update: lspinellijr informed me that Compaq also has Community Forums. Cool. 8) I know they used to have support at PocketNow.com but that got shut down soon after the HP merger.

you really should get your facts in order before you post something like that.

i have been using the ipaq from day one and found great support on the compaq (now hp) site. not only for ipaqs but all products are found there.

I haven't had that experience with Compaq...quite the opposite in fact. And even worse experience with HP's forums.

I think the key with any support forum is that YMMV. Mine's been great with Dell as well.

customer experiences are personal and subjective. im not disputing the fact that you have had good or bad experiences w/ XYZ vendor.

the point of my post is that the original poster didnt do his homework :)

Cool! updated my post to reflect that. I knew about the now defunct PocketNow forums but didn't know they had internal forums. Kinda wonder why they ever had the PocketNow forums if they had these. :?

I don't count those Palm forums at Brighthand. IIRC, Steve had those long before Palm started to sponsor them. In fact, other than the ad revenue BH gets, I don't know what Palm's involvement is. It clearly states at the top "This site is NOT owned or operated by Palm, Inc. "

See, that's what I'm saying, you think Dell went the extra mile...HA! Palm trumped them, not only do they have a forum like Dell, they went and bought themselves some positive reviews TOO![/quote]

..and instead of buying positive reviews if the only put that money into making a decent OS or a useful enterprise handheld.

I don't know how you think about it - I find those compaq forums quite confusing and dislike the software very much. True, they keep valuable information regarding questions, but most of them everybody can also found at the the top5 boards regarding PPC with a much more friendly software.
Just wondering who likes the forum software at HP ?

I have actually used the original HP "forums" which were on a by product level. Didn't care much for them. They were manned, but very confusing, and as a result, there was no community involvement.

As forums go, I think Dell hands down has the best. Their forums are better than many enthusiast site forums as far as software goes. Not PPCT by any stretch, but other forums.

I have moved all posts about Brighthand to an off-topic thread called "Brighthand debate" (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5162&start=10)...
