It's not released yet.

See this (http://discussion.brighthand.com/showthread.php?s=7c1f9b940b6722c6cf26d47bff491eca&threadid=65222) thread about installing the iPAQ EUU3 in the Jornada.

Yah... a bunch of us on Brighthand have now successfully installed the Compaq version on the 568. Seems to work just fine.

Yep - it installs fine and works great!

Just be prepared - when you transfer the 12mb file to your pocketpc and start the update, it will tell you that it will take 2 minutes. It doesn't! It will take 14 minutes so sit back and hold tight.

Yeah, the readme actually says it is closer to 10 minutes. I too have heard tales of putting this same file on the 568. Do so at your own risk. :) If it goes south, I doubt HP will repair it for free.

As I remember Marlof lost his Windows Media Player when he mistakenly loaded the wrong update on his HP928.................

YES ! That's worked... on my french HP 568 (with the french iPAQ3760 EUU3, of course !). If you want all details, it's in french, here (http://forum.sorobangeeks.com/viewtopic.php?t=693&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=).

I ran the update last Fri. and have not had any problems since the upgrade. In fact my Jornada seems to be running faster. :D

Microsoft probably took out some "NOP"s.

I had hoped that HP would be releasing EUU3 for the Jornada 568 at the same time that they released it for the iPAQ ppcs. Nothing posted on their sites as yet, so I both e-mailed and phoned support to inquire as to when it will happen.

By phone I was told that it was unlikely to see any further work on the Jornada series as all development and staff are focused solely on the iPAQ lines now. Via e-mail I was told "when it's posted it will be available and not before".

Looks like if any of us with a 568 want EUU3 we will have to use a Compaq version. So much for HP's claim that they would continue to support the Jornada ppcs and users. Pretty frustrating when I haven't owned it 10 months yet.

Oh, that isn't good. I am going to be seriously TICKED if HP doesn't support Jornada owners with service packs and even offer the next Pocket PC OS upgrade, assuming they do the same for the iPAQ owners.

Certainly would make me strongly avoid an HP or Compaq :) for my next PPC. My Jornada line has been 545 (ordered on release day), 548, 568 (ordered on release day). I went with the HP based on the very good reputation of the company and personal experience with their products and service. If the results of the merger are that they have adopted a different concept of continued support, along with the Compaq product line, I feel there is no longer an HP PPC option.

I can't see spending $500+ on a device if the OEM support dries up in 18 months. I can accept not putting much into further development for the 560 line, but not testing and posting an MS supplied update would be inexcusable. That is aggravated by the fact that they are supporting iPAQ models that predate the 560 series with updates.

Hi Guys... just saw a thread on Brighthand, that someone who had NOT applied the firmware upgrade 'froze' on trying to apply the Compaq EUU3 upgrade. There's no word yet, I've seen, on whether he has been able to rescusitate his Jornada.

BE WARNED -- apply all previous upgrades (firmware, EUU2) before attempting the EUU3 compaq upgrade. Everyone I've heard from who does this reports no problems and J's which seem to work a little faster.

Not exactly true, the EUU3 update contains everything since EUU1, the only aparent prerequisites are PocketPC 2002 OS and that you have applied the latest HP FIRMWARE 1.1 5.60MB (http://h20015.www2.hp.com/en/softwareList.jhtml;jsessionid=YURVABYVEAZQPQEXGR5UNZQ?reg=&cc=&prodId=hpjornada563928&lc=en&softitem=Firmware&sw_lang=en) patch from HP.

Take a look at this Brighthand Forum threads:

By the way, I updated my J568 to EEU3 without a problem since last week.

Happy Holidays,

Do I have to have EUU2 installed before I can install EUU3 on my HP Jornada 568? And how do I tell if I have EUU2 installed?

No. EUU3 has all of the fixes EUU1 and EUU2. You do need the firmware update from HP for the jornada before any EUU's go on.

HP finally got around to releasing the EUU3 update for the Jornada. But, I can't download it. It won't let me. I guess the website has alot of traffic now.

Hello All,

With EUU3 for the 568 out, why isn't it posted for the 567? Aren't they identical systems but simply sold differently?

Any EUU for the 568 should work just fine on any 56x series, so the 564, 565, 567 and 568 should be safe.

Yep, the EUU3 for the 568 installed without a problem on my Jornada 565. Don't forget to install the HP Firmware update before the EUU3.

One other tip - it sometimes causes problems to have anything inthe HPFileStore when upgrading EUUs or the firmware. If it fails with a memory error, temporarily clean out the filestore, do the update, then put everything back.

Great Timing!

I had just downloaded the update, cradled the Jornada, and was about to pull the trigger.

Thanks again!

It worked like a charm.

The most important fix is the installation of a brand new Today Theme.

I would argue that the best new thing is the new WMP... but thats just IMHO
