Just wondering if someone knows of any efforts in providing interoperability between GSM/CDMA/TDMA. In the US (unlike Europe) we'll continue to have GSM/CDMA/TDMA for a long time perhaps. That basically means that you are NEVER guranteed coverage in the US (except for major cities and surroundings).
I saw a press briefing about Qualcomm coming up with a GSM/CDMA chip set. I wonder if anyone knows of cell phones/PocketPCs manufactureres planning to incorporate this type of chipset into their devices. Imagine a PocketPC and/or cell phone that automatically switches over to GSM>CDMA atleast if not all 3 and you get wireless coverage no matter where are you are in the US or world (GSM).
Perhaps folks at this forum should write to major manufacturers (like HP/Dell, HTC..) to develop devices that incorporates such chipsets developed by Qualcomm or others. That would be true power projection of having such forums that can influence the device makers towards better interoperability. The device is only as good as the coverage (apart from PIM functioins and some useful apps and games) when it comes to continoius.
