http://www.pdapro.co.uk/insideout.htm

Each month, Kevin Tea publishes interviews with people who are influencial in the PDA world on his PDAPro Web site. He's had some good ones in the past, but for November, he has outdone himself. I say that for two reasons: First, it's his longest, most in-depth interview to date. Second, the subject of the interview is none other than...

Jason Dunn!

In the interview, Jason answers questions like:

• Have you ever owned a Palm?
• What are the highs and lows of running such a high profile site?
• How do you think the [Pocket PC] sector is going to progress over the next 12 months?
• What is on your personal wish list for the Pocket PC market?

Of course, my favorite part of the interview is when Jason talks about what an outstanding group of contributing editors he has ;). It is truly an honour that Jason was selected for the article. You owe it to yourself to read it and learn a bit more about what a hardworking visionary Jason is.

Cool interview! It's neat to learn stuff that I never knew before, especially Jason's personal Pocket PC wishlist. :way to go:

Pretty cool interview. It's always nice to find out more about people you interact with in a somewhat impersonal way such as online.

It also brings home the fact that we (me) should take a bit more time to think about how we critisize people like Jason who care so much about what they are doing, and take their responsability to their readers very seriously.

So.......if you checked with Microsoft to see if a clamshell device would be acceptable as a Pocket PC, how long do you think it will be before we see one?

Jason Dunn? Is he that Palm enthusiast guy I keep hearing about?

Realistically? 12-18 months. I think the Pocket PC needs to make more inroads against Palm before the OEMs will feel secure enough to start experimenting...

Well it's good to know they can do it. A clamshell design easily doubles the real estate and only thickens the device slightly.

If the Sony clamshell devices were running Pocket PC, who would give a hoot what Dell was doing. :)

What a wonderful interview. Thank you Jason, and Kevin for presenting us with a little behind the scenes glimpse. One thing that I am surprised is your optimism and the great point you raised in relation to the dropping price point of Pocket PCs. I had worried that with all the "me too"s that appeared in the sector we would see a "dumbing down" of the devices. That OEMs would push harder to cram the same junk into the next model without making significant improvements upon original designs. But, now I realise that Pocket PC is heading in a direction that Palm took over the last few years, with a split in the design. One targeted to mainstream consumers with a low price point and minimal features, and a upscale model touting all the bells and whistles. So the trend will be to create wizbang models that push the envelope, and lower end models that inherit the benefits of the R&D of their cousins. Excellent.

Thanks to all the staff of PocketPCThoughts.

I have only two words to say after suffering through that long interview....

WELL DONE!!! :way to go:

Without PPCT, there would be thousands (dare I say millions?) of us walking around, bumping into walls, trying to figure out what to do and say in PPC Land. Instead, we follow you like the Pied Pipper that you are. :werenotworthy:

You Da Man Jason!!! Thanks

Thanks to all the staff of PocketPCThoughts.

Jason's willingness to open up on professional and personal levels has helped make this one of the better Inside Out profiles. Also, his comments and constructive criticisms of MS should silence some of his critics who say he just "brown noses" with MS.

If ayone has anyone else they think would make a good Inside Out interviewee, please email me. We don't use hot irons and pull out fingernails, honest :o

I have to admit that this is my favourite all time #1 PPC website. It's the one I check every day... okay fine - a few times a day! Now that I know who goes to all the pains to make it such a great place, I must give a hearty thank you :D Keep up the excellent work and enthusiasm! :way to go:

PS - Since you have influence with the giant from Redmond please tell them to offer us people of lesser means more for our money!

Well, I don't personally rely on this site for any professional reasons, but nonetheless, this is the site I come to first and most often when I need a break. Great information and a definite must-see for anyone that loves portable technology.

Overall great site. Very cool interview.

...not sure I really wanted to see what Jason looked like though!!

Great interview. It is great to put a picture to a face, sometimes, and this in one of those times :D

After I delete the email from all those people who really want me to improve the size of my, uh,well, um you know  the first site I check out is this one. You guys do a great job and I hope those people who seem to enjoy dishing out so much non-value added criticisms will read this article and change their evil ways.

Anyways, you guys rock (and so do most of the regular readers of this site) :rock on dude!:
