Word Browser, from I-Merge, provides a very unique interface for looking up definitions and related words, like synonyms.

• Complete set of WordNet database. It has 135,000 entries with definitions and various usages
• Multiple meanings of a word in different contexts
• Same meaning of word (Synonym)
• Opposite meaning of word (Antonym)
• User friendly interface with easy navigation
• History lookup

As you can tell from the screen shot, it's the graphical interace that makes this dictionary so unusual. Using a tree structure and drop-down hierarchies, you can show or hide just the parts of the dictionary you want to. I'm going to download the demo and take it for a spin. I can always use a little more help with my vocabulary and spelling!

Cool stuff. It is similar to, but more "tree like" than, Lexionary ( http://revolution.cx/lex.htm ) which I only discoverd last week but love. I'll have to try this one and compare.

Both are based on the Princeton WordNet project database ( http://www.cogsci.princeton.edu/~wn/ ). There is also a TomeRaider version available at http://www.memoware.com/ (search for WordNet).

I'd love to hear your comparison.

In our favor I'd like to add that Lextionary:
- Is cheaper ($14.99)
- I think it's smaller, it requires 7.3 mb installed.
- Has pronunciations, which aren't part of WordNet.

We'll also be adding lots of new content to Lextionary in version 2.0.

Thanks

Hayes

Maybe the first thing you should do is look up "unique". Then you won't make the mistake of calling something "very unique" again :-))
