After installing AOL 2.0 on my 3970, it came up with an error message that said there was a critical error in networking (Error 607) (I think). Eventually I had to do a hard reset to get it working again but it was very irritating because I lost an important file in the process. Has anyone else had a similar problem?

AOL 2.0 is not compatible with PPC 2002. Only with PPC 2000 and CE. It is anyoying but you have to use aol mail 1.0 and AIM 2.0 as 2 porgrams for now. From what I hear they are not planning on building a client for ppc2002 for now. MAybe that will change after 8.0 hype and promoting has settled down

Thank you very much. I really only want AIM anyways to keep up with my son in college. I'll look around to find out where to get just AIM for ppc 2002. Thanks again for your valuable input.

From AOL website:

NOTE: AIM 2.0 will only run on devices running Windows CE version 2.11 or Windows Powered Pocket PC. Windows CE versions 2.0 and 2.01 do not support AIM 2.0. AIM 2.0 also does not support Pocket PC 2002 devices.

I was just checking out AOL's site, and I was taken to Handango where I can buy AIM 2.0 for USD 20!! Is this a joke? Who would pay $20 for AIM? I'd pay $20 for a PPC version of Trillian, but certainly not AIM! Especially when it DOESN'T SUPPORT CURRENT VERSIONS OF POCKET PC!!!!

Sure enough, even though they say it's not supported, AIM 2.0 works properly on my 3970. Thanks for all the help.

AOL has a beta right now called AOL Anywhere with a PPC 2002 compatible client. You might try to sign up for it and get the software. I dislike AOL with a certain fervor, so in general I have a hard time recommending it. Did I mention that AOL charges extra for it unless you use the bring your own ISP (TCP/IP) mode? You can however use it to get mail and such.

You mean that a piece of AOL software messed up some network settings after it was installed? Surely you can't be serious!

They disconiuned the beta. I had it and loved it but didn't back it up and lost it... If anyone has a copy of the AOL PPC beta client I would love to get my hands back on it
