Can't say that I've been waiting with baited breath on this one, but it does look neat.

By the way, shouldn't it be 'Let me hear you say "RSS"!'?

YES! This sort of thing makes my day! Now I'll be able to render my own version of the Pocket PC Thoughts forums! Goodbye free time...

Cool! Gotta love XML and RSS.

You know you outta create a Pocket PC Thoughts Klip. Klips are deals that allow you to read headlines on your desktop using the Klip Folio application. I created one for Tablet PC Buzz, it is a neat little piece of software. It feeds off an XML feed of sorts on the site, and syncs however often you set it to. Several large sites are using it now, including Slashdot, Neowin and WindowsXP.nu. You can find out more about it at http://www.klipfarm.com

Yeah, I've seen Klips before - pretty cool stuff. :-) We just might make one.

I do have question though. Why are all the link elements the exact same? They all point to http://207.44.140.93/~admin1/

I've made a Klip for the RSS feed. For use with the excellent KlipFolio.

I can't attach files to this board so if you want it send a email to [email protected] and a auto responder will send it back to you in a couple of minutes.

Unzip the file to c:\program files\KlipFolio\Myklips

Works a dream for me.

BTW I just hacked a different KLIP.

Another option is PocketRSS. It costs $5 and contains both a Today Screen plug-in and "normal" application.

I'm not sure why but my browser (IE 6.0 on Win XP Pro) only displays the XML source code for the link. Anybody else having that problem? Probably has a simple fix.

actually it's supposed to do that. The XML doc is used by the RSS client to create a trim, readable version.

My excitement over this is that it exposes information that I for my XSLT transformations.

I know nothing about RSS, but the exposed info is easy enough to parse.

Yup. Get an RSS client. IE isn't one...

Wait, you can use RSS to download the Forum to your PPC? I'm using the Free RSS Client that guy on the first page (His post is at the bottom of the first page) listed. If I can use it to download the Forum to my PPC, even if only to read it, that would be great, otherwise, I'd rather continue to use Avanto Go to download the site to my PPC...

Yea, that's my bad. it wasn't the forums, but the frontpage rather. Oops. But still it means I can parse the front page myself.

Hi, Jason, I tried to set up the RSS news feed from Trillian PRO and I don't know what to do really, it ask me for the .rdf file and where the server is. Any Ideas?

If it helps it supports RSS 0.9x and up

It also says an example:
http://www.myserver.com/news/rss.rdf

any ideas?

Hi, yorch. Our RSS 0.91 feed is located at

http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/xml/index.php

Just try copying and pasting the above url in your software.

Let us know if it works. We have tested the feed with many applications without any problem.

Just a suggestion... try adding:

<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="RSS" href="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/xml/">

...to the <head></head> of the home page. It'll allow RSS clients to autodiscover the Thoughts feed, saving the user from hunting around for it.

Hey, I know this thread is old, but what Windows rss clients are you using?

Thanks,

John
