<a href="http://www.gui-innovations.com/html/pocket_rda.html">http://www.gui-innovations.com/html/pocket_rda.html</a><br /><br />Pocket RDA is a new application that makes remote database use and administration possible from Pocket PCs. You can reach any ODBC compliant databases using Pocket RDA since the software consists of two components: the Pocket PC application and a server conduit application.<br /><br />"Pocket RDA from <a href="http://www.gui-innovations.com">www.gui-innovations.com</a> is a boon for DBA's and support personnel (and anyone else who needs to access data remotely!) everywhere. Sit in a meeting and get the latest sales figures. Pocket RDA will allow you to control ANY database accessible through ODBC or ADO from your Pocket PC. Simply connect to your server, select your database and away you go. Connect using a network card, or a modem into your system. Pocket RDA uses a multi-threaded 'data server' as a middleman, and routes requests to your Pocket PC. From your Pocket PC you can:<br /><br />• Run queries<br />• Insert/update/delete data<br />• Execute stored procedures<br />• Examine the structure of your databases<br />• All through our 'friendly' interface"<br /><br />Pocket RDA is tested with Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL Server, MySql, PostgreSql, Oracle and Image (an HP database). I think it looks nice and seems to be very flexible. Follow the link for more information and screen shots!<br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/pocketrda_01.jpg" />

While I would like to sing this application's praises, I sadly cannot. I was unable to connect to my local SQL Server 2000, either by host name or IP. The PDA is connected through the cradle, so that might make a difference. Anyone else have a success?

Hi,
sorry to hear you are having connection problems. Pocket RDA was designed with wireless/modem in mind, but was tested using a cradle, and works OK.
I have just re-tested it on a Jornada 568 plugged in via USB,and it worked OK.
Maybe you want to contact me offline to see what the problem is? Can you ping your server using vxUtil. Firewall problems?

Thanks

Pete

After the latest release I had a perfect success. I think it was a combination of things. 1- getting the proxy set up, 2- realising that there was a server component (my own mistake), and 3 - the realease of the new PPC client.

Thanks again for all your help. This is a great product. Excellent work!
