Hi, I have not been able to find any topics on this but is
this possible ? If so, how does one set something like
this up ?

When I set the mode to Ad-Hoc, I can see that I'm
getting a signal from another peer but don't know how
to send a file to that peer (which is another PPC w/
WLAN).

There are no native peer to peer networking abilities between two Pocket PCs. This might be possible to do with third party software, but I somehow don't think so - the Pocket PC has no "host" capabilities for file sharing, etc.

Does anyone know of a way, native or otherwise, to establish a peer-to-peer file transfer between a pocket PC and a laptop using 802.11b AdHoc mode?

You mean: connect the PPC to one or more computers set in ad-hoc mode? No problem, just connect a PCMCIA card to the laptop and set it up.

To just copy files you don't need anything else. Sync if you have PPC2000, get a program called Net Use if you have PPC2002 (free of charge).

To dial the Internet on a modem connected to the laptop from the PPC, you will need a router, e.g. WinRoute Lite.

This is essentially what I am trying to do. Where do I get the "Net Use" program? Also when you say Sync, do you mean ActiveSync? I'm not sure what PPC2000/2002 refers to or how I would go about finding this out. When I lookup the version it indicates: MS PPC ver 3.0.11171 (Build 11178).

Thanks for the help Jorgen.

Your machine is a PPC 2002.

Yes, sync = active sync

In both PPC2000/2002, you can copy files using explorer. Net Use allows you to explore from the PPC but only works on the newer machines.

Another option is to use my IRDAsh program (www.bitbanksoftware.com). I am currently adding FTP capabilities, but the older version (1.1) allows ad-hoc PPC to PPC and PPC to PC file transfers over any type of LAN, wire, or IR.
