I saw this posted by "DaveAgain" in the Casio E-200 Corner (http://www.pocketpcminds.com/showthread.php?postid=2614#post2614) thread over at Pocket PC Minds... a German developer has written a little app that gives you a real mouse pointer on your USB host-enabled Pocket PC! The thread is linked above and a download link can be found on this page (http://www.dce200.com/). (Note that at the moment the download link has a space at the end which will result in a 404 error. Remove the space and try again or just download here (http://www.nrdp.net/e200/updates/Trayapp.zip).)

As far as I know, it's only been tested on a Casio E-200; anyone with the expansion pack want to try it on their e740?

Thanks for posting about this, DaveAgain!

Thanks Dave! I've been discussing this in a thread in the Software forum and copied your post there:

I'm going to give it a whirl with my Toshiba e550G USB enabled cradle.

I tried it and it sort of half works. Its needs some refinement, but has a lot of promise.

I got a pointer, but it seemed kind of sluggish and not all the clicks registered, or registered in the right places. Also some apps just didn't seem to register the pointer at all (Pocket Launcher for one).

This could be really cool for presentations and the like

Why do you need a pointer? Any reason other than for giving presentations?

So that when you're using a keyboard, you don't have to use the stylus to move around the screen. This is especially useful for an e740 that you've got hooked up to a full-size monitor.
