Sorry guys, but in the battle between my promised Monday post and an overdue chapter for the digital video book, the book won. Let me <a href="http://www.brighthand.com/newsite/features/bh_future.html">lay one rumour to rest</a>: no, I'm not going to abandon the site and work for Brighthand. I should be able to get to the post tomorrow, but it's somehow turned into something bigger than I meant it to be - it's simply a statement and clarification of how I want to see this site develop, and steps I'm going to take to make it so. No earth-shattering announcement, so you can stop hitting refresh on this page now. <img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif" /><br /><br />Psst...the new editor on Brighthand won't be Wes, or any of the Pocket PC webmasters. I'm willing to bet it will be someone from the Palm side of the fence, and I'm not sure what that will mean for the Pocket PC community there.

Go get 'em, Jason. I can't wait to read your book, or hear your site plans.

Did I mention this site is my homepage? I'm sure I'm not the only one.

I figured you were gonna tell us what was on the missing 18 minutes of the Nixon tapes... Or maybe the secret reciepe of Marshmellow fluff. It's good to know that it's guidelines and a vision statement that you're coming up with.

I'm so relieved! You had me worried for a bit there Jason, just too coincidental. Thanks for taking that off my shoulders, I prefer you right here doing what it is you do best. :D

Wow, someone at BrightHand really doesn't like me!

One more reason why allowing anonymous posting is a bad idea - drives up the garbarge, does nothing to add real value.

I think you and Steve should be comparing IP addresses. I wonder if this is from the same block you blocked.

That thread is getting pretty funny towards the end now. :D It just goes to show that there is no value in having unregistered users.

Yup :D Several interesting points: first off, it's probably the same 12-year-old getting a kick out of it, appearing to post as different people. Second, if the trolls all start registering, we'll have a bigger problem: we may have to make registration invitation-based. BBS's, towards their end (during the popularity boom), turned increasingly towards this as a means of keeping out trolls.

Having said that, hopefully we won't have to do it soon... PDABuzz's (and this site's, in general) anonymous banning does work very well.

yeah - unregistered users can be a real problem - hell, registered users can be a problem :)

One thing I've never quite understood is why so much of this stuff has to boil down to personal attacks - it's just plain stupid and half the time it's born out of jealousy.

I don't even own a ppc but I read here pretty regular because Jason is a good friend of mine and I keep buggin him to give me one of those ppc's he's using as doorstops these days ;) &lt;hint hint>

My 2 cents - if Jason wants to keep this site runnin then good for him. I remember back in the day when he first started it up. It's come a long way and J's made a name for himself in this industry through hard work and dedication to his craft.

OTOH - if he decided to shut this down and move over to Brighthand or anywhere else in some capacity then I would support that decision as well because I'd know he'd not made the choice lightly and had considered it from all angles and done what was best for him and Ashley.

Anyone ever noticed that Dave's (of www.davescompaqipaq.com) PocketPC Newswire (http://www.davescompaqipaq.com/pocketpc.htm) link is the same page /content displayed by Brighthand's PocketPC News (http://www.brighthand.com/newsite/ppc/ppcnews.html) link?

Umm...that's because they're both Pocket PC Newswire (you said it yourself). :D www.ppcnewswire.net is a site that does news, then syndicates it out to other web sites. So rather than repeat the same news, some sites just use Pocket PC Newswire.

We do our own news. :-)

And here I thought I might be actually on to who is going to take over Brighthand.com.

Silly me...
