LinearLogiX iPAQ Upgrades

I hadn't heard of these guys until someone mentioned them in the forums, but they seem to have pretty good prices on upgrades: $99 for a 64 MB memory upgrades and $57.50 for a 1000 mAH battery replacement. They're quite firm on the fact that they don't believe the battery should be upgraded to a larger 2100 mAH battery - I haven't noticed any problems with mine yet, but I'll let you know if anything happens. I had them upgrade my ipaw a while back and was impressed. Fast, professional, and cheap. Very friendly too. Since I had three done at once they through in 2 day shipping vs. ground. Anyways, I regret most not getting the aluminum stylus latch. I think they are just a little consevative with the upgrades but hey, you can;t beat their prices.

I had my battery replaced with the 2100 mAH battery several weeks ago and have not had any problems with the swelling, and I've discharged/charged mine several times - I use it constantly. I use the CF sleeve and can now easily get 3 - 4 hours of playing music off of a Flash card. 8)

They fixed my wife's iPaq screen and a friends stylus lock. Great work - reasonable rates - honest!!! Highly recommend.

I'd be very interested in more feedback on this company from satisfied or unsatisfied customers. I can't afford the 2100 battery right now so I was just about to order the regular 1000 battery from LinearLogiX anyway when I saw this post. Any more positive experiences, or any negative ones?

Highly recommended. They upgraded my H3630's to 64MB about 1 1/2 years ago and it's never had a problem.

They also do excellant repairs. My on/off button somehow slipped inside the hole (on the same 3630). I tried prying it out with a paper clip. (Yea, I know, keep metal away from circuitry.) I ended up shorting out the motherboard inside. They fixed it about a year ago and it's been working great ever since.

Both times I got it back in 2 days.

I hope my 3850 never needs repairing but I'll definately send it to these guys.

Hello! Just wanted to let you all know that my iPAQ is awesome with the upgrade! I use it, along with a Stowaway keyboard to take all my notes for school on.

Last year and the year before, I was using a SHARP Mobilon Tripad HPC. Not bad, and definitely worked for what I needed. But having 4 times the storage space is definitely a plus!

I'm pretty excited about gradually getting smaller and more compact with my note-taking methods. My classmates all ask me where they can get one! Unfortunately at the current prices, most students can't afford them. It's really a shame, cause these devices are perfect for students! Most of us, from having worked on the computer for so long, can type a lot quicker than we can write. It's nice to be able to read and understand my notes, and not have to try and decipher them afterwards...

...I will keep Jason and you updated on any changes, although I'm confident I'll have a great year with my new toy! :-)

This is NOT A SLAM of the company or any attempt to drive business away from them. At all. This is just an observation, that I hope Linear Logix will maybe read and take to heart.

It makes me "uncomfortable" doing business with a company that wants to tell me, on various parts of their website and especially in popup windows, just how shady and bad the "mysterious" competition is. I've noticed this on their website the few times I've visited over the last year or so.

There, I've said it. :)

Other than that, I've heard of people very happy with the services from LinearLogix. I've also hear of people very happy with the services from their competition as well. :o

I know that in the US, with all the negative advertising featured in political campaigns, etc etc, people may gloss over this or think it's much ado about nothing, but for me at least, if you want to sell a product or service to me, tell me how good your service is, not how bad your competition is. That's how I decide where to spend my discretionary bux.

Description: Upgrade your iPAQ's internal RAM from 32MB to 128MB with our upgrade service. This is our Native Upgrade that uses the high-density chips. This upgrade is designed for Linux or for users that may wish to upgrade to 256MB at a later date.

Due to numerous requests for a more affordable Hi-Capacity memory upgrade, PCE2000 and Times2 Tech has spent numerous R & D hours and dollars to design a way to 'Stack' standard density RAM chips.

This required a rewrite of our software driver, we then designed and built a tool to re-bend the leads on the top layer of RAM chips so that the pins would mate properly with the bottom layer of RAM chips.

The result is a Hi-Capacity RAM upgrade that has the same functionality as an upgrade using the Hi-Density chips (expensive), utilizing the standard density chips. Not all systems are capable of using the 'Stacked' version of our RAM upgrades. These systems will require the use of the Hi-Density or 'Native' RAM chips (Details can be found on the upgrade page for your specific model).



The Process


The Result

The main difference between the Native and the Stacked RAM Upgrade is if the original manufacturer were to release a BIOS that supported the full capacity of RAM, the stacked version would still require our driver. The memory would be partitioned into a 64MB conventional RAM segment and the remainder as a storage disk called T2T DISK. The Native RAM upgrade would not require our driver.

One major benefit of our Stacked RAM / T2T DISK is significantly faster access. Unlike conventional RAM, the T2T DISK space has no compression overhead. Video and audio files which do not benefit from further compression are much better suited to the T2T DISK space as well as high speed games.

they repaired a broken screen on my 3650 ipaq with a total turn around time of ONE day. i sent it to them by fed ex 2 day, they repaired it the day they got it, and shipped it back out fed ex 2 day. sent on monday, back on friday -- can't beat that! screen repair was flawless, stylus latch is a big help (mine had just worn through after 1.5 years of constant use), and cleaned and sealed the unit from dust at no additional charge. my boyfriend thought it was a new unit when he saw it. :D

they are also very, very nice. i had lots of anxiety sending it off to an unknown company far away, especially when everyone talks about the times2tech people. but i called them and chatted with them about it and realized that they were "just folks" who were committed to doing a good job and at a much cheaper price than anyone else.

I think it can be determined that these guys do excellent, affordable work. But if you want one of the other upgrades ppc techs is the way to go. but for basic upgrades, why pay more when you don't have to?
