huge sms files taking up space in windows????

Has anyone noticed the huge files in windows directory on the tmobile ppc phone that may be related to sms?

I don't use sms much, in fact maybe 5 messages since I got the phone 2 weeks ago.

What are these files? Could they be deleted? Could they be moved to the SC to frre up some of the limited 32 meg space?
