Apologies for how clueless this post is. My situation is as follows:
- I've got an ipaq 3630.
- I have a PC Expansion Pack Plus.
- I've got an Avaya 802.11b wireless pcmcia card.
- I've installed the Pocket PC driver for the Avaya wireless card on my ipaq (in main memory)
- I've got a university building that has a wireless network.

I want to connect to the wireless network, but I have no idea as to how to go about it. As far as I'm aware, I have everything I need to "get wireless", but I've no idea on how to proceed. 8O

Any help is extremely appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Blusparkles,

You need to speak with your system administrator. You will need the following information:
1. The proper IP settings for the wireless lan - IP address, netmask, DNS, & gateway
2. the name of the wireless lan - also called the ESSID
3. the security key for the wireless lan - find out whether it is 64 or 128-bit or not even being used. Also, find out the pass-key or the hexadecimal key code.
4. if they are super-security conscious, they may ask you for your MAC address to add to their list of users who are allowed to use the system. you should be able to find this using the software that came with your card.
you may have to play around with it a little to get everything correct - the sys. admin. should be able to help there.

Good luck, 8)
