should i convert word and excel docs between my ipaq and my desktop or uncheck it so no conversions are done? What's the best way?

If you wish to view the files on your pocket PC they will have to be converted, this could cause a loss of formating. If you would rather use the Pocket PC as a transport for moving the files from one machine to another, and you do not wish to lose the formating I would recommend not converting the files.
