Just saw a 3-pack of DataPlay disks (from Imation) at CompuUSA today sitting around the MP3 Players...they didn't have anything to use them with, nor the price nearby...they do look cool...3 different colors in a CD jewel case.

The DataPlay site still doesn't list any devices other than a couple of MP3 players that can use them (OK, there is a Korea-only USB drive too).

A few days ago i saw the dataplay discs and a dataplay player. They look pretty cool, but they are expensive as hell! The player was around $300-350, and the discs were $40 or so for a 3 pack, and you can't even rewrite them. It would just be cheaper to get an iPod or an Archos jukebox, because these aren't worth it at all right now.

I think this product has just missed the boat now. They were a big deal with the first press releases, but it just seems like they keep saying "we are almost ready to make them." In order to introduce new memory types you really need a full out assault on different product lines...kind of like what has happed with MMC/SD in the last year.
