I don't know if this is true or not, but it makes a great story! The closest I can come to matching this story is when I saw Tom Berenger at the same hotel that the first Pocket PC Summit was hosted. Yeah, I know, pretty weak. Source: Foo Fighter

My claim to fame: I'm the guy that had lunch next to David Crosby at the Americain in Amsterdam. "If I had ever been here before I would probably know just what to do. Don't you?" I still can't remember what my client said during lunch, but can remember what Crosy wore. I'm a lost cause...

Bah! I don't believe this guy's story. Musicians use Macs..and I know for a fact that Madonna uses a Mac. So, unless she was unaware that Pocket PC isn't compatible with Macintosh (natively), then I don't believe that she rushed out and purchased an iPaq.

This story seems like a flight of fancy from a Pocket PC fan with too much time on his hands.

Next week's headline..."Bjorn buys a Jornada!"

The only celeb I've met in person..and I'm ashamed to admit this...is Dan Quayle! 8O

Bah!...Musicians use Macs..

Bah! Quite spewing Apple propaganda! Several of my friends are doing music on a PC, and guess what, it works? Don't believe the Apple hype!

It's true. Macs are the dominant platform in the music industry. Go into any recording studio and you'll find a G4 running Pro Tools.

I don't play around with Music editing software very much, but Acid is excellent.

but Acid is excellent.

Yeah - if you drop enough of it the defficiencies of the Mac seem less important.... 8)

It's certainly dominant, but your statement was an absolute - I've been in studios running Pro Tools on a PC as well. I simply wanted to point out that your statement was a factual error. :D

Acid is music software for PCs...not Macs.

Ah... but if I'd put any thought into it it wouldn't have been a quick throwaway joke now, would it? :)

I just remembered that I did meet one other celebrity. A couple years ago I bumped into Jay Leno at the Auburn Cord-Duesenberg Festival.

A few years ago, I got to shake hands and briefly talk with Dave Thomas, founder of the Wendy's (http://www.wendys.com/) restaurant chain. I also got to take a stroll through one of Wendy's corporate jets, which was really cool. Dave was a really great guy; I can't think of too many public figures that are just truly honest, caring people. He was something of a local hero, having started the restaurant chain right here in downtown Columbus. When I worked downtown, I ate at that Wendy's a little too often. :)

Nope - the link works fine for me. I do find it hard to believe this story however. The acid joke was good though!

It wasn't just you; Brighthand was down for an hour or so. No forums, news, or other parts of the site were available, returning 404 errors. Seems to be back now, though, so all is well with the world. :)

Celebrities eh?
Well, I bumped into Jeff Healey one time at a Harvey's burger joint in downtown Toronto once (bizzare but true, I was on break from my, then, night shift support job) - about 5-6 years ago. I remember debating on whether or not I was going to ask for his signature!?! (he's blind, if you didnt know - hence the debate)

Or how about Pete Sampras about a week ago, practicing on a local tennis court (that's just behind where I work) on the University of Toronto downtown grounds. Seemed a bit stand-offish, but I guess when you're a big star athlete... Actually, I've met a few tennis stars, as I've had the good luck to be friends with a part time tennis linesperson.

My personal favourite, however, was when I met Bruce Campbell (of Evil Dead fame) a few months ago. He was on a speaking engagement (which happened to be hosted in the same building I work in, and since I'm the IT support for the building...). What a nice guy! He autographed a bunch of my stuff, and was a genuinely funny guy - I even had a short conversation with him. I even joked to a buddy that I was tempted to nick his stuff (it was left outside my office as it was a "safe" place in the building) and ebay the lot! :) Not to mention that his presentation was fantastic.

Wait a sec, what the hell does this have to do with PDAs again?
