<a href="http://www.pocketpcmagic.com/etiquette/">http://www.pocketpcmagic.com/etiquette/</a><br /><br />Where Nokia ringtones might annoy your surroundings, the boombastic sound of a Phone Edition could shock their world. Happily Miss Mobile Manners has published her etiquette rules on how to go out and enjoy your Phone Edition, and still remain a good citizen. Miss Manners is very up-to-date, as the linked page is formatted for good viewing on a Pocket PC screen. Now there is an example of good manners!<br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/missmanners.jpg" /><br /><br />"<b>Location, location, location.</b> A good citizen never uses their Pocket PC Phone in theaters, museums, houses of worship or libraries, unless they're doing email and instant messaging. A citizen should however use their Pocket PC Phone Edition at technology conferences and around the office or in large crowds. A citizen with an advanced phone like the Pocket PC Phone Edition should show it off as much as possible, the more a citizen shows it, the more popular they will become and the more friends they will have."

Frank McPherson's photoshoot at the Pocket PC Summit in Philadelphia, as found through his Pocket PC weblog (http://www.pocketpchow2.com/log) pictures one of our friends, Dale Coffing, and utility belt (http://www.fmcpherson.com/pictures/ppcSummit2002/photos/photo_29.html ).

I have this feeling Miss Mobile Manners (http://www.pocketpcmagic.com/etiquette/) used Dale as an example for one of her etiquette rules, called "You're not Batman". "A good citizen resists the temptation to wear the Pocket PC Phone Edition on their belt and / or inside a fanny pack. No matter whom you are, clipping devices to you belt or wearing a fanny pack isn't cool. Remember, fanny packs = bad! European carry-alls (a.k.a man bags) = cool."

Just kidding of course, in situations where you gotta demo cool stuff (like Dale is fortunate enough to do a lot) having easy access to that stuff beats looking cool. But when I saw this picture after I posted the above thought, I immediately thought about Miss Manners :D.

Ditto - and about every 2-3 weeks someone ask what I am "playing with."

And Ms Manners has it wrong - a man-purse is not cool. And yes... I am Batman!

But Ed, a man-bag (this is what Jason calls it, really) is cool if you are in New York City. But it's very important that it be a cool man-bag. I guess I need advice from Miss Mobile Manners on finding and selecting a cool man-bag. I always have cheap man-bags from one of those office supply superstore places. :D

I kinda like the Incase Moya Deluxe (http://www.styluscentral.com/inmoypakdel.html) as a PDA carrying tool (watch this site for a review soon), but I'm still not 100% confident wearing it.

I can assure you that if it is really called a man bag, you'll never see me carrying one. Heck, even Seinfeld admitted it was a purse.

Nah, Ed. It's the latest thing! Everyone's got one! Men! Women! Children! Everyone's carrying them!

I bought one of those moya bags, ok, is it me, or is the model on their site a clear indication of why men should not carry things that look like purses?

I finally settled on a sling backpack which amazingly enough i found at RiteAid, originally marked as $19.99 and rung up as $9.99, this thing has 3 pockets larger to smaller, and a phone sleeve on the sling part as well as a cd carrying pocket for easy access on the bottom of sling part.

i use this alternatively for my pda and my cd device.

great bag and only $9.99

I've had my Moya Deluxe for a couple of months, and I absolutely love it. I recently switched jobs and no longer carry a laptop to work every day, so my larger shoulder bag was looking sad and deflated. The Moya carries my Jornada 568, an ethernet CF card, headphones, and a wallet perfectly with room to spare for a book or magazine.

But yes, it's not for the faint of heart or those not in metro areas, a.k.a. manbag-friendly zones :)

I just felt that once everything I carry:

Ipaq 3850 + SS2
Targus Stowaway Keyboard
cables
recharger
sunglasses case
wallet
keys

The bag bulked out so much that it was just uncomfortable and really felt uncomfortable the way it stuck into my side. I like my new sling backpack much better, even has a place for the telephone on the strap.

Hey, moya asked $60, the bag I have now was $9.99, it's got padding galore and I think it's great.
