Has anyone been able to use their CF modem in their e740? My device doesn't even recognize it. Quite maddening.

I replied to the other post about CF modems before I read yours. I'm using Casio's and it worked from the moment I plugged it in and got the right phone number.

See the other thread...my modem works fine although connection manager could use a little streamlining

Thanks for the help, folks, but my e740 wants to be finicky, apparently. It doesn't recognise my New Media Netsurfer when I plug it in, nor does Connection Mangler (CM just gets stuck in this infinite loop, asking me if I have a modem and if so to plug it in etc). Maybe sometime this weekend I'll go and get another and see if that'll fix the problem.

I'll tell you, though, that this is a deal-breaker for me. I LOVE my e740, but if I can only connect using WiFi (which is what I use 90% of the time), and not at all using a CF modem, I'm looking for something else. I travel way too much to be stuck using only WiFi.

That's strange well not really, but my old 28k from New Media use to work with my iPAQ and PCC2002.

I've got a Viking 56K CF modem and it works great. I plugged it in and it worked. No drivers needed loading or anything.

(I realize this doesn't really help you with your problem, but at least the problem isn't with the e740 in general :) )
