There are many, many pictures of the 928 to be seen. Go there, and take a look at what many customers in many countries will never see in real life. Sigh. well, the policemen in s'pore use this to check up on criminals and write summons on the go. The policemen in malaysia use this along with a smartcard reader to read the malaysian identity card(remote access server)...we use smartcard id's now, its an all in one passport, id , credit card and you can even pay the highway tolls with it...eliminates the need for waiting at airports...just "swipe" and go:)

I think I want one of those, no more aligning my Nokia 8310 with my Jornada's infrared port. :)

I have been waiting for an integrated PDA phone for some time now but there either they are old processors (XDA and HP 928) or require bulky expansion packs (Loox and Compaq). Then I read today in the e-zone about the MiTAC MIO 728 quoting a press conference last week (likely in Taiwan) and lots of photos of a not too beautiful (boxy comes to mind) PDA but its specs are very respectable.

Intel X-scale 300/400 MHz
32 MB ROM
64 MB SDRAM
3.5" TFT
185g
76.8 x 122 x 16.2 mm
Bluetooth
GPRS and GSM phone built in (picture has attenna)
CF II slot (no SD mentioned)
HK$4,000 (about US$500)

Anyone know about this? MiTAC launched a chinese version PDA MIO 528 earlier this year, the pictures of this are in english so I don't know what OS it is using but suspect Pocket PC phone edition given the built in phone.

Does anyone know if these machines would be usable in Toronto?
Aren't we the inventors of the Blackberry, the home of Nortel (now worth 50 cents a share but never mind), Sierra Networks, and other wireless innovators. .

Oh come on - the LOOX GPRS module does not add that much bulk or weight! See http://www.firstloox.org/images/high/GPRS_hi.jpg

It's a very good choice indeed.

However on Page 9 of the July edition of the Vodaphone (UK) brochure it shows the 928 as 'Coming soon', 'Exclusive to Vodaphone'. So – you will be able to get it soon in the UK!

And the Vodafone UK website (http://www.vodafone.co.uk/cgi-bin/COUK/singledevicedetails.jsp?category=phonesandpriceplans+pdas+jornada+928&channel=Phones+%26+Price+Plans&menupath=2,8&BV_SessionID=@@@@0689216111.1027471627@@@@&BV_EngineID=kadceilkhggebekgcgjcfmedl.0&usertype=consumer) still shows it in the What's New section as well.

Ahhhh, this is very nice, indeed :) And even with a swappable battery!

I cannot wait until Hp comes out with something like this in the States!

The only thing I would add or change about the 928, is add BT, add an SD slot, and change the CF 1 to a CF 2 slot. Otherwise, its a beautiful piece.
