<a href="http://www.eten.com.tw/English/products/features.asp">http://www.eten.com.tw/English/products/features.asp</a><br /><br />Is today "find the obscure Pocket PC" day? Thoughts reader Francois emailed us about this Pocket PC found in the Chinese market. Nothing all that special in the specs or design, although it's nice to see integrated wireless. In a market that is absolutely exploding with cell phone purchases, and not desktop computers, this device may do quite well in China.<br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/infotouch.jpg" /><br /><br />"Eten's InfoTouch series, the best-sellers among all financial PDAs in Taiwan and China, have sold 750,000 sets since 1997. This brand new InfoTouch P600 comes equipped with a StrongARM 32-bit RISC processor, 32MB ROM, 64MB RAM, and a 240x320 TFT LCD with 65,536 colors. The LiPoly rechargeable battery is good for up to 8 hours. Synchronization is achieved through either the built-in IrDA or the included USB adaptor. Memory can be enhanced through the addition of Compact Flash Type II cards or MultiMedia cards. Simple navigation is provided by a five-directional button input system and through the touch screen. Communications capabilities include GSM/GPRS 900/1800MHz dual band wireless supporting all Microsoft® Pocket PC 2002® standard communications applications including MSN Messenger, the personal communications application ideally suited for economic use of GPRS wireless technology. The unit also functions as a cellular phone and includes a stock quote/transaction application."<br /><br />Don't like the features and want to order up something special?<br /><br />"Looking for 802.11, Bluetooth or other wireless features? Please don't hesitate to inquire about product customization. We can provide fast turnaround solutions to any of your wireless needs including the very latest in high bandwidth protocols for wireless devices."

The picture looks like a computer rendered image meaning it is probably not ready yet. As with many manufacturers in Taiwan/China, the statement about the ability to customize the product means they are likely looking to sell as an OEM solution.

It seems not many people are aware of the plethora of products in the far east.

Have a look:

From Mitac: (WARNING: PDF files)
Slim PDA IP-206DDS (http://www.mitac.com/micweb/download/files/pda/206dds.pdf)
Pocket PC IP-151CVF (http://www.mitac.com/micweb/download/files/pda/151cvf.pdf)
Pocket PC IP-181CFA (http://www.mitac.com/micweb/download/files/pda/181cfa.pdf)
GPRS PDA IP-181CSA (http://www.mitac.com/micweb/download/files/pda/181csa.pdf)

CE.NET devices from Surwin:
S320/S640 (http://www.surwin.com.tw/320.htm)
I320/I640 (http://www.surwin.com.tw/640.htm)

The Yakumo Pocket PC from the other thread seems to be the same as the IP-151CVF from Mitac. Not surprising though.

Yeah, we posted on the Mitac products after I saw them at CeBIT - they have some pretty cool designs!

Sorry, but that one is reallt too bad. I think JonnoB is right with his comment that it's just a picture yet. And I would add, I doubt that it will be much more in the future.

This part tells it all. In my words: "Sorry, we actually don't have such a device yet. But if you send us a big order for a few hundrets or thousands we might produce it at a very nice price - for us. Of course, marketing, sales, distributions and service will be your problem."

Hi all! This is my first post.
When i visited beijing last year, i could'nt resist visiting some of the computer malls. Some of the shops there were just selling pda's and Legend had about 5 of them. At that time the "old" ipaq was considered to be the king of the hill, but these had 32MBrom *and* 32MB ram. Enough to fit in ppc2002!! plus it had 16 bit screen:)

... but these had 32MBrom *and* 32MB ram.

Far East versions of the Pocket PC have always been larger and require 32mb ROM.
