<a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000068CS0/jasonsego">http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000068CS0/jasonsego</a><br /><br /><i>Newsboy</i> and <i>ipaq-PHD</i> pointed this out in the forums yesterday, and it's such a smokin' deal I wanted to pass it on: Amazon.com has 128 meg Sandisk cards for $58.95, which is a good deal. But what makes this an INSANELY good deal <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/stores/detail/-/electronics/B000068CS0/rebate-info/002-6469480-0307208">are the two $10 rebates</a>, giving you a final price of $38.95. 30 cents a meg anyone? Go order these right away - the rebates expire on the 20th, two days from now. If you ordered from Buy.com, try to cancel - this is a much better deal. And this is also an affiliate link, so... <img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif" /> A great site to watch for deals is <a href="http://www.techbargains.com/">Techbargains.com</a> (they apparently have a Mazingo channel as well).<br /><br /><b>UPDATE:</b> There appears to be some controversy over the rebate coupons being duplicates, but if Amazon is advertising these cards with $20 rebates, they should honour that.

It's only a $10 rebate, the two rebates shown are actually the same one. Still a pretty good deal though. If I had anything that used SD I'd buy one!

Certain, take a look at the two forms, both of them are identical -it's actually the same file in both cases, just linked from different places. Amazon have it wrong.

Print out that page, and when you can't get it down to $38.95 after the rebates, email Amazon and tell them you want it for the price they advertized - you'll get it I'm sure. :-)

You can also apply this $5 gift card which will make this an even hotter deal!

The Promotional code is "MAPCLEANER35", I just ordered from them so I can assure you it works.

I wouldn't count on it, they have themselves covered - on their "about rebates" page that have a line at the bottom - "We can offer compensation for a discrepancy only if the rebate comes from Amazon.com."

I wouldn't order from Amazon anyway, they have this nasty habit of charging me tax because I live in Washington and then shipping from the other side of the country. It has to be an amazing deal for me to shop at Amazon, expecially as buy.com ship most items for free now.

I ordered and got the $5 off too! Free shipping on top.

Keep in mind the item is not going to ship for 1 to 2 weeks per the webpage.

Order Summary from my confirmation:

Subtotal of Items: $ 58.95
Shipping & Handling: $ 5.58
Promotional Certificates: -$ 5.00
Super Saver Discount: -$ 5.58
Total for this Order: $ 53.95

Take $10 off and you get $43.95. :)

Now just have to wait till mid August to get it. :) No worries.

Amazon? Honor a price/rebate on their website??? Sorry, but Amazon has a long standing history of NOT honoring prices that are on their site, citing them as "errors" and then simply charging your credit card for the difference.

Well, the rebate form says it's from Sandisk/Amazon, but the link to it says from Sandisk. You should still be able to get your $20, though (as the form says Amazon). Anywho, the real trouble is that the rebate form must be postmarked by 7/20, and the sent form needs to include a UPC. Sorry guys . . . unless you get your SD card in the next day or two (but probably won't since they're a few weeks backordered), you're out of luck. :(

According to the rebate, "requests must be postmarked by 8/20/2002." :D Phew

Sorry . . . my bad on the date. Having realised that, I gotta get me one of these! P.S. the site says "usually ships within 24 hours" now.

Just a note to let you know, I ordered at Buy, and then saw the Amazon deal. I requested Buy price match Amazon. The request was submitted last night and the auto-reply indicated a decision within 24 hours. Will post the final outcome. Keep your fingers crossed!

Here is what the site says now:

Our Price: $58.95

So the rebate is now only $10.

Also, it now says "Usually ships in 1 to 2 weeks".

I just got my 128 MB SD card today. In the few hours I've had it, it seems to be working fine in my iPAQ 3870. Before the $10 rebate, I paid $53.95 -- not too bad.

The only problems I had were software problems.

First, the SD card kept insisting on being called "Storage Card". I had heard that the name given to SD and other cards on the iPAQ was dependent on the order of insertion, so I thought I was ready for this.

I tried changing the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\SDDisk\Folder key in the registry to "SD Card" from "Storage Card", but that got undone when I did a soft reset. I was hoping I wouldn't have to change my playlists, because my MP3s are all stored on my 256 MB CF card, but it seems that I had to.

I eventually changed the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\PCMCIA\ATADisk\Folder key in the registry to "CF Storage Card" and edited my playlists to reflect the change. This way I won't have to worry about the order of card insertion (I hope :-)).

Second, there was a minor issue regarding Pocket Streets 2001. It seems Pocket Streets can't locate maps on the SD card if they're in a subfolder of My Documents. I was hoping to move my maps from my CF card's \My Documents\Maps directory to a similarly named one on the SD card to make more room for MP3s. Maps are found in \My Documents, but not \My Documents\Maps. This is probably a Pocket Streets 2001 issue, because Microsoft Reader has no problems locating books on the SD card in \My Documents\Books.

Does anyone know if Pocket Streets 2002 works better in this regard?

Steve
