... is not what this is. But look what the FCC finds inside Pocket PC 2002 Phone Edition known as Wallby / XDA / Joey: a Sony logo! Amusing, but not surprising as Sony is one of the largest of-the-shelf component maker in the world! This Federal Communications Commison (FCC) page contains both internal and external high resolution pictures from the FCC examination of the device. The user's manual is also available in Adobe Acrobat (PDF) format. Source: Jerome Neuveglise

Thats just the screen that has the sony logo on it isn't it? Don't sony make screens for most PDAs? I'm sure I heard that somewhere.

Hm, Andy, what do you think WHY Sony is not making PocketPCs and produce the Clie instead? Because of the competition MS and SONY have in olthers areas. If there wouldn't be the PS2 vs. XBOX battle I'm sure they offer their own device... a bit sad for us though, but good that not everything is MS these days

Actually, Have you guys seen that new Xscale Acer Pocket PC? It seems to be sony manufactured because it has a Mem Stick slot, a REAL Jog Dial, and a REAL Hold switch...

I think Sony just licensed their Memory Stick slot. Acer has a Palm OS PDA that has it too.

I encourage anyone interested in this phone to read the manual ahead of time - it's a great read! No real surprises to anyone who's been following the device for sometime now, but very convenient for those salivating at the corner of the mouth <looking in the mirror>.

Unfortunately, I think someone forgot to proof read this copy - it's littered with typos. I'm extra suprised the FCC didn't catch the typo in the table of contents for "RF eposure" (page 7). <shrug>

Very cool! Just around the corner. VStream is making their brand switch next week, I believe. At least that's what all the stores in Seattle are saying...

Looks like the screen isn't the only thing that has a Sony logo on it... check out https://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/prod/oet/forms/blobs/retrieve.cgi?attachment_id=253016&native_or_pdf=native and look at the chip that is just about in the middle of the board... it's a little blurry, but it looks like it says "SONY" to me.
