well, i was at costco today and an ipaq bundle caught my eye.

it seemed pretty standard - an ipaq, cf expansion sleeve, and a case. but the name caught my attention. it said that the ipaq was an ipaq 3845 (which i've never heard of). anybody know anything about this? it seemed quite standard - 206mhz strongarm processor, 64MB RAM, 32MB ROM.

the price was quite nice, too - $520 for the whole bundle. sounded good to me.

does anybody know about this ipaq model?

Big retail chains like Costco get "customs" models that don't exist anywhere else. For instance, I have two Samsung 170S LCD monitors - yet if you go to samsung.com, these monitors don't actually exist. :-)

Based on the specs, it sounds like they are 3750's.

It can't be a 3760/3750, because those ship with either 16 or 24 MB ROM if I remember correctly. It sounds just like a 3850/3830.

I work for Compaq/HP and Jason is right, big retail chains will get the same model but with a different number.
