http://www.p-tool.com

Vision Solutions is close to releasing a new PIM for your Pocket PC called p-TOOL 2002. This seems to be a complete PIM replacement for both your Pocket PC and Desktop, completely bypassing Outlook. If you are interested in getting more power from your Pocket PC in planning your daily activities, you should definitely check this out.

It costs $14.95 for the Pocket PC version, $79.95 for the desktop version and should be available in the next few days.

What a buggy program. If anyone gets it to work, let us know!

...$79.95 for the desktop version...

Is that a typo? That seems kind of steep for a PIM add-in. But you know, I sometimes wonder if the growing availability of Pocket PC applications that cost less than $20 has changed my expectations for software in general. I've seen so many killer applications for the Pocket PC that are truly affordable that I'm coming to expect desktop applications to be the same way: well-written and affordable.

Naive, huh?

The program sure is buggy! I had nothing but problems after installation. Needless to say, I removed it quickly.

I couldn't even read the error messages since they were in German.

I thought I found a replacement for ACT! 2000. ACT! is looking into developing a PPC version of their DB program. I'm still waiting...

Hi, all!

I'm actually a very close friend to the developer of this p-TOOL 2002 software and I find that the software is great! Well, he too is a frequent visitor to this site so he would probably check out this forum soon and post something

Anyway, I'm wondering what problems you guys have encountered cos i had no problem using it at all. Mayb you guys could post the error messege and I could probably help out in it.

And error messege in German??? That's weird, cos those guys don't even know german :D

Well, just helping out my friend here cos I think he's busy now with the official launching of p-TOOL back here in Malaysia...
I just have to be proud of a software coming from my own country...being the patrioritic me! Hehe

Regards all
Peaz

If he is talking about the bar at the top, that would be Wisbar and you can download the skin here: http://skins.ppcforum.com/index.php?s=&type=4&cat=&page=2 (it's the same skin I use)

Yup... it's wisbar. I know cos i gave those skins to him! :D hehe

Anyway...if those of you have problems with the software and the error messege goes something like "unable to initialize DAO/JET engine" or something like that, that's cos the software (desktop version) needs DAO component to work.

YOu'll just need to install that DAO engine to run.... to get that, well, visit www.p-tool.com, i thnk they have updated their site with this issue... check out the main page's news section...

THe PocketPC version should install properly and run without a problem... without the desktop version, all you need to do is to disable the activesync component within activesync... and the PDA version should run independantly.

The concept of the software might seems very Different at first... well, that the whole point of the software anyway. ok, to tell you guys the story behind the scenes...
p-TOOL was developed not by programmers but by real life company on Strategic Management and effective planning that's quite big over here in Malaysia...many major companies uses the system that this system that was created by them. So... p-TOOL not no mere PIM... it's a PIM based on a system that works! Urm... but certain concepts needs to be get used to cos it's vastly different from outlook.

Hmm, I've adviced the team to upload some teaching tutorials onto their site and they have been looking into it. However, (another behind the scene story...) they are a 3 man team!!! So...I guess that the materials would come... just not at lighting speed.

Wow, suddenly I'm their unofficial support person? hehe, I guess thats what friends are for.
