The X-Scale has problems, it is on track, it is delayed. Who knows anymore? Well, according to this article, Casio has an E-200 successor using the X-Scale to be released in June, as will new Pocket PC's by Acer and Hitachi. Then there are the devices we've been discussing for a few days now from Toshiba and HP/Compaq. Hmmm... no mention of the Loox.

Interesting footnote: "HTC remains the preferred designer and manufacturing partner for the iPAQ’s higher-end, technologically advanced versions, but HP has been delegating more of its orders to LG Electronics of South Korea." Thanks to Sophie Wilson for the link.

Is sure hope HP doesn't screw up the iPAQ like they did the HP56x series with dust ridden screens and a low-durability/build quality casing. I wonder if LG Electronics is responsible for some of the shortcomings of the HP series. The perfomance and design (size, weight, and battery life) are great, just the actual case and screen stinks (paint peeling off casing/dusty screen).

I hope the 'thin' iPAQ that's coming out won't be an HP production, but rather an HTC made, Compaq designed device. That means large screen, no dust, and no peeling paint. I'd like to see some of HP's innovation in the device but would feel more comfortable if I knew the Compaq team and not the 56x HP team is handling the production of the device.
