Time for a little late-night venting. I was doing some 802.11b testing, and went to the Windows Media Mobile site - there was this video entitled "Britney 2032" that I just <b>had</b> to click on. Here's a snapshot of the video stream I watched:<br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/uglypixels.jpg" /><br /><br />Anyone have any clue what the heck that image is? I didn't either. I had to go to the <a href="http://www.warnerbros.com/pages/shortfilms/britney2032/play.jsp?ID=britney2032_movie">real web site</a> to watch the video. Reality check for everyone offering multimedia content: people with 56K modems can accept the fact that they can't stream decent video, so offer the rest of us something better! There's no speed options for the video on the Windows Media Mobile site, so it's 56K video streams for us all. Whee. :-( Let's see here - we have CDPD at 19.2. Nope, that won't even play. GPRS is around, but a 56K video stream would choke and sputter on that too from what I've heard. What's left? 802.11b baby, and we can handle a REAL stream. Give us some options would ya?<br /><br />By the way, the video is hilarious - especially the out takes - check it out...on your desktop PC that is.

Have a look at http://www.pbsnz.com/innovate/mike.asx - these guys have been uploading video from a Sony DigiCam via the iPaq and then streaming it back to iPaqs using a webserver. Using GPRS here in New Zealand it works pretty well. ie. It's watchable ;-)

I had to go to the real web site (http://www.warnerbros.com/pages/shortfilms/britney2032/play.jsp?ID=britney2032_movie) to watch the video.

I guess I'm unlucky, then. I went to that site, and every video type gave me a dark burgundy screen. It was after doing a bit of experimentation (both IE and Mozilla), that I noticed that the burgundy screen had some dark purple text in it (um... nice design... NOT!). The text (for all formats) says, "Sorry, Not Available."

Hmmm... come to think of it... is it that Britney's not available, or just the movie?

These look like options to me...

They're options on the desktop web site, but not from the Windows Media site - which is the point of my post. I wish they'd offer a Pocket PC broadband option...

JASON! Are you routing your scrambled "adult" cable channels through your Pocket PC again? Just kidding man, but you have to admit it does look like a scrabled cable channel.
