http://www.infosync.no/show.php?id=1682

infoSync has a short column on a Symbian concept called "Magpie" - it sounds superb! The possibilities of wireless data are vast, but until the "killer" scenarios for consumers are brought to the forefront, wireless data will be a niche play - which is what the providers are fearing the most. Symbian gets my nod for merging technology with real-world scenarios. That's the kind of thing we need to bring PDAs into the mainstream.

"So what makes Magpie so special? Imagine this; you've planned a sunday picnic, but want to make sure you don't up eating while it's raining bats. With Magpie, a weather forecast item could be embedded in the listing for the picninc in your Agenda, displaying a small icon next to it to show the expected weather. Information could be retrieved dynamically from an online weather service twice a day, using GPRS and thus almost no bandwidth."
