http://www.cnetx.com/format/

CNetX has released Flash Format 2.5. It gives you total control over your external storage card and works on all Pocket PC's, Handheld PC Pro and Handheld PC 2000 devices.

You can format your external storage card using FAT12, FAT16 or FAT32. It also allows you to enable AUTORUN on any card so when you insert the card, your playlist, game or spreadsheet will automatically launch. (Pocket PC's only) Check out their web site for additional features.

Someone is going to say it, so it might as well be me....

"And virii..."

I know, it's unlikely... but still possible...

Well of course it is possible... if you do it!

You set AutoRun on your own memory cards to execute whatever YOU like to run when you insert a specific card. It's pretty unlikely that you have MP3 playlists or ebooks with "VIRII". But if you do, you are going to have problems anyway, even if you don't activate AutoRun...

The ability to quickly swap SD cards and have the corresponding playlist, game, or ebook automatically started is definitely nice to have: give it a try!

I wasn't meaning you'd autorun a virus with your own memory cards :). I meant if you were swapping with people.

I like the autorun property of CD-ROMs. Same thing. Would be neat to buy something like a GPS program on a CF card instead of a CD, with all the binaries for PocketPC2000, PocketPC2002, & other WinCE devices, as well as lots of maps. That would be very neat... just pop it in and it autoruns...!

Guess since I don't use much the MP3 aspect of my PPC the autorun is less than interesting to me, but I can see how someone using theirs for a lot of MP3 playback on a lot of CF cards would like this. On my PC, as soon as a CD spins up and tries to engage autoplay I key Ctrl+Alt+Del+Enter, as I don't like control being grabbed away from me. I treat my CD drive as I do any other drive, accessing and activating files at my will, not some developer's.
What bothers me more with this utility is that the advertising copy touts 'complete control of your media' or something like that. What about maintenance? Strorage Tools is not yet fully developed (a bit of a premature release), but it already works quite well for full storage maintenance, whether flash or spinning. I found it works quite well for both my CF cards and my external hard drive (an Accurite 6GB), although the current rev failed to see the second and third partitions of the HD.
Complete storage media control ought to mean exactly that, right? So far, no one has offered that for the PPC.
