Not so much a comment as a mini-review!

I tried the pre-release version of this and found it was excelllent - well thought out and put together, very logical in the way the various parts of the program are put together - this could replace every mark book and register you use! Capable of improvement - yes - but then all products are, and only regular use will show exactly what improvements are needed and how they should be implemented.

One caveat for UK users - the grading system in the version I tried was strongly routed in the US 'percentage marks'/GPA system rather than letter and level grading. This may have changed in the newer version but I don't have the means of testing the new demo currently (between Pocket PCs  ). Even if it hasn't been changed - it is worth working around.

Thoroughly recommended (4/5)

My daughter is an elementary school teacher - and can't afford a PDA, especially on what Florida pays a teacher :( . She will be getting my H3600 this summer and could really use some software like this. With an average classroom size of 33 students, what teacher couldn't?

She carries around a small notebook now with all of the grades and comments about each of the students in her class so that when a parent stops in or catches her away from her desk or school she has notes on their kids.

I have not downloaded and checked this software out - hopefully there is a way to upload it to Excel, etc. so that she wouldn't have to do double input.

Thanks.

I would certainly be interested in this software. I'm a technical instructor and while I wouldn't need the grading portion, the roll call and contact info would be VERY useful!

I work at a community college in New Jersey. The school doesn't pay the teachers much, and this piece of software would be a big help. It would help me keep track of the attendance in the same place where i can keep their grades. Often, the students can't make it to every class. If i can keep all my information on me at all times, if they need to see a grade or why their overall grade is what it is. It will also help me with grading at its most basic level. The school has a particular weighted grading system, and this software would help me keep track of the grades without spending important time on my calculator. The final use it would have for me that i can think of is that as I said, students often don't show up to class. While i try to be tough, i don't want to be mean. Many times I have had to go searching through piles of papers for a student's phone number to call them to remind them of a deadline. Allowing me to keep these contacts with the rest of their information would be a big help.

I would put this on my wifes Pocket PC (she is the teacher), so I might actually get to see her before the sun sets once in a while!

I'm the guidance teacher for my elementary school. I can't imagine how much time this would save me. I have to give a grade to every student in the building. With this program, I could do my grades almost anywhere and on my time. I wouldn't be pinned to the computer on my desk. I could also imput seating assignments for different classes so I'd always know where my students are sitting for each and every class. I'm glad to see a company has come up with a PPC program dedicated to us teachers! Thanks!

I'm a staffing specialist/guidance counselor here in Florida, which means that I am responsible for the ESE and school files for 4 different schools in my county. Roll Call would be AWESOME, as I could have contact, grade and progress information at my fingertips away from my desk, no matter which school I'm at! In addition, I also have a homebound student, who due to her illness, has to be taught at home. Roll Call would be a great resource for me to input her grades (since I can't drag my computer to her home twice a week) and be able to tell her instantly where she stands with her classes and with graduation.

I have to echo what some of the other posters have said - it's really nice to have someone developing and releasing flexible software for educators - this sounds like a great item for teachers!

You can copy/paste your reply, but I need them all in one place in order to make the drawing. Thanks so much! :)
