The O2 Xda Atmos is a compact smartphone phone which features an auto-sliding QWERTY keyboard making it an ideal choice for the mobile professional who needs easy access to E-Mail, messaging and the internet while out of the office. Equipped with Windows Mobile 6 Standard, the Xda Atmos supports quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE and singleband UMTS/HSDPA at 2100 MHz as well as Bluetooth 2.0+EDR and WiFi b/g and features 256 MB of ROM and 64 MB of RAM."

Seems like we've seen this design quite a bit over the last year. For those who like the candy bar style but wish they had a full qwerty to type on, this style works great. Now the UK can enjoy the O2 Atmos. With UMTS/HSDPA, Bluetooth 2.0 and WiFi, it has great features. I have to admit though that I like the landscape screen and the qwerty keyboard on the front like the Dash or Blackjack. So which do you prefer, the candy bar style with the hidden keyboard or the pop tart landscape style with the qwerty on the front?

I've just bought a Palm Treo 500 after using my HTC Vox for 10 months now. The slide-out thing was really bugging me lately, so I've decided to go with a Landscape only device with full QWERTY (QWERTZ actually).
I paid ~ 180$, so it's a good deal for me, too (selling my Vox for more :D).

$180USD!? Thats a pretty good price! Did you have to do a contract upgrade or was it full price?

I bought it on eBay without any contract.
In Germany you use sim cards (which are actually your phone number), so you can put your sim card into any device (if it's not simlocked or netlocked). The system here in Germany (and also complete Europe I think) is little different from the US system.

Awesome, great find!

Here in the US we have both CDMA and GSM/UTMS/HSDPA networks. Personally, like you, I prefer the SIM card based services (GSM) over the CDMA networks just for the simple fact that if I do go to Germany, I would be able to use my handset instead of buying a pre-paid one :)

We would love to hear your thoughts on the Palm Treo 500 if you're up for it, though we would probably have to start a new thread ;)

Thanks for the heads up on the great eBay deals Prosper!

Ah ok, didn't know that. Quite an expenditure just for having a mobile :D We just have that one sim-card based system.

Yeah I'm sure I can put some images up and post them along some thoughts about it. Give me a week or so to play with it :)

You're welcome. Somehow nice that the Treo 500 is already that cheap on eBay 8)
