As we mentioned in the previous post, the 4GB model will be available in black, red, pink, or blue, while the 2GB version only comes in black, and the 8GB is only available in silver. The models are priced at $79.99, $99.99, and $129.99, and will be available sometime in April."

Looks to be around the size of the Nano, but at a pretty steep discount to what the Nano goes for. Plus, it comes with some very un-Nano-like features such as microSD expandability and an FM tuner.

UPDATE: The Business Wire story we were linking to has now gone behind a login barrier (don't you just hate that?), so we're linking to the Fuze product page instead.

I saw .6" thick? That sounds pretty hefty.

Other than that, it looks compelling!

8 GB for $129 is a great deal, but with a 1.9" screen, you're not going to want to look at much on it - so why not go for the SanDisk Clip instead?

Hmm. The SanDisk product page says this:

"Incredible battery life in a 0.3" thin device"

0.3" sounds more reasonable to me...

You are right - I went with the original spotting off of Amazon (http://gizmodo.com/365690/sansa-fuze-turns-up-at-amazon). The official site (http://www.sandisk.com/Products/Catalog%281256%29-SanDisk_Sansa_Fuze.aspx) lists at .3" (compared to the nano's .26").

Wow, I'm starting to regret the Zune 4gb purchase now...

Clip tops out at 4gb (and I haven't seen it yet) and has no expansion.

Ah, yes, the expansion - good point. Although I bought a Zen Vision with the SD card slot and I'm really not impressed with how the expansion works. I was hoping that adding in a memory card would make it one glob of storage, but that's not the case. Do SanDisk products work smarter?

That should be the case, yes.

What's with silver as the premium colour? I think it's tacky. I recall a period when consumer electronics (notably TVs) went through a silver phase and boy did I hate that colour...
