Amazing news!

And the device even though it is a Pocket PC aka Professional device, is amazing. I want one. For the first time I am interested in a Professional series device. The VGA screen + 3G phone + WiFi + QWERTY. Deadly combination. I don't think it has the GPS, only AGPS.

Definitely looking forward to this one. Some nice touches worth mentioning: (a) the vast number of bands it supports, (b) USB mass storage support out-of-the-box, and (c) a 3.2-megapixel auto-focus camera with flash. Sony Ericsson's phone cameras are usually very decent. Most past and present Windows Mobile phones can hardly boast the same quality. I'm really hoping the X1 raises the bar and encourages other manufacturers to do a better job.

I've posted more links (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/index.php?action=expand,58370&/sony_ericsson%27s_xperia_x1_shows_its_face.htm) over at Pocket PC Thoughts.

The thing that is most impressive is that SE is not putting out a run of the mill QWERTY device. They have took the time to style it and think of the features. And they have definitely got the specs right. I believe it has insane amount of memory also(?).

Wonder what the price will be?

400MB, although it's still unclear how much of that is RAM and how much of that is ROM. There's also the Memory Stick Micro slot for expanded storage.

SE has been pretty busy. They have the product page up:

If it turns out to be as great in real life than it is on paper/screen, this could be my first device with Memory Stick...

Aesthetically it looks great but I'm worried about how long it will take to come out. SE announces their phones way too early and usually they come in late.
