i picked one up last week and really like it. i had the blackjack I and it was prob my favorite wm smartphone. i tried out an unlocked att unit before buying this and it was full of att programs that we would never use in canada. i dont mind carrier branding, but it was out of control!

it does still have a problem keeping up with fast typing, but in general, it doesnt miss letters often. i do wish that it had the soft-touch coating on the back, and not because it shows finger prints, but because it just feels better to me.

i have left the phone set to 3g and have my exchange account set to push emails as they arrive. i also use at least 1hr of talk time per day, and send receive 40 email/sms messages per day. after a few total discharge and recharge cycles i am burning through 50% of the battery when using the phone from 8am - midnight. not bad considering it is locked to 3g. if i start surfing the web the battery life takes a little bit of dip, as expected.

i am on the $65 1gig plan for data which is much better then the $100 for 100mb that i used to get. it is a step in the right direction for data prices. i dont expect a canadian carrier to match USA prices, as they have 10 times the subscriber base. $50 for unlimited data would make me happy, i think.

the only thing that is pissing me off is that the smartdialer is not working right. i do not have any filters set, but there are several contacts that i cannot find by spelling out their name from the home screen. i actually have to go into the contacts app and spell out the names to find them. very frustrating

From the image in this post, it looks like the case on this version is similar to the original BJ. It isn't smooth and shiny like the US BJII. Is that the case? Personally I like the finish of the original BJ.

the case is hard, shiny plastic. it looks really slick but is not the soft-touch material. it is not too slippery, though
