His idea is to use Weather.com's thrice-daily updated mp3 podcast and feature a picture of the current conditions as the album art. Right now, only Houston is functioning, but Ted says he plans to add more as users request it and ultimately host the whole business at ZuneWeather.com and Zune-Weather.com. Eventually, the site will serve the content dynamically, enabling the user to enter a few basic details to get their personal RSS feed. Until that time, post your thoughts in the thread.

Interesting but I'd rather get data feeds from MSN Direct that provide alerts, weather, movie listings and sports scores over FM radio....which every Zune has. At least with FM transmission, you don't have to be connected to a hotspot.

That's an interesting point. I wonder what it would take for Zune to recognize SPOT signals. I was under the impression that SPOT/MSN Direct runs on regular FM signals, so it shouldn't be too difficult for Zune to recognize it, right?

It's kind of unfortunate that Microsoft has so much technology at its disposal yet doesn't seem to want to do anything with it. I'd really love to see the Zune as a Vista Sideshow device, or a Media Center Extender, but I imagine these won't happen for a while, if at all.
