In addition, Microsoft further solidified the Xbox 360 as the ultimate high-definition (HD) entertainment platform, with key announcements around the HD DVD launches of "300" from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group and "Heroes: Season 1" from Universal Studios."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/microsoft_xbox_hd_dvd_external_drive.jpg" /><br /><br />This is a great deal, but let me give you even more incentive: most of the Xbox 360 HD DVD drives on store shelves also include the media remote, and King Kong on HD DVD. On top of that, through the Xbox Live Rewards program (which is free), you can get an additional 10% off at Circuit City. So to sum up: the drive, the remote, and six movies, for just $162. Hell of a deal!

I might have to pick one of these up since I hope to pick up a 360 after the rumored price drop.

He just needs to make a friend on the border for a few weeks........and wait out the rebates :usa

Bigger question is, are these the same xboxes that suffer the red rings of death or overheating? I guess for the price, it shouldn't be a surprise if they explode. :P

We're not talking about Xbox's here, just the HD DVD add-on drive. So no, there's no risk of the HD DVD drive overheating.

As far as Xbox's overheating, from what I understand the red ring of death issues have been corrected, and the newest production units going forward should have far fewer issues than in the past.

Where can I get more info on the additional 10% off through the Rewards program? I think that price point plus the movies seals the deal. :)
